Package: sanduhr Severity: normal Hi, sanduhr Suggests: python-orbit, bonobo-python; these are obsolete. Please consider updating the package for a newer orbit/bonobo version (at least a GNOME 2 version), or dropping the suggests, or requesting removal of this package. There is no cost involved and with a suitable holdoff delay (say, holdoff 120 or holdoff 300) it is not hammering the ISP's services. I have an ISP that is currently having twice-daily 2-hour+ outages (!!) and it would've been really nice to have this dogged persistance mode preconfigured. It'll probably save on confusion and frustration too, as I think you'll find most users expect the system to keep trying not give up if suffering more than, say, 2 min downtime. Bug#286381: marked as done (pppoeconf: lcp-echo-interval and lcp-echo-failure too weak)
Your message dated Mon, 24 Jul 2006 14:09:38 +0200 with message-id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and subject line pppoeconf: lcp-echo-interval and lcp-echo-failure too weak has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) --- Begin Message --- Package: pppoeconf Version: 1.0.14 Severity: normal Please, increase default values of lcp-echo-interval and lcp-echo-failure. Default values make connections fail and disconnect quite easily, at least with my DSL provider, which is painful when you have a dynamic IP being assigned. I am currently using lcp-echo-interval 60 and lcp-echo-failure 10, but I have not finetuned that. Also, please document in README.Debian what those "timeout waiting for PADO socket" can mean, and why your lose your DSL connection, and how you can fix that. Perhaps that is not the only reason for that to happen, but can hint a lot of people in the right direction. BTW, I wasn't suffering such bug when using pppoe package, it only appeared when I switched to use kernel and pppd plugin. Thanks, P.S. Though this is a "whislist" class bug report, I'm keeping normal severity because it makes connections fail, which is a real problem. -- System Information Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i586) Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-1-386 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages pppoeconf depends on: ii gettext 0.14.1-6 GNU Internationalization utilities ii ppp 2.4.2+20040428-5 Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) daem ii pppoe 3.5-4PPP over Ethernet driver ii whiptail [whiptail-prov 0.51.6-20Displays user-friendly dialog boxe -- no debconf information --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: pppoeconf Source-Version: 1.11 Your bug is fixed in the latest version of pppoeconf.
