haskelldb fails to build on debian-amd64

2006-03-15 Thread Roberto Pariset
Hello,
haskelldb fails to build from source on debian-amd64, with a lot of errors
like: " undefined reference to `stg_ap_p_ret' ", as shown at [1].
I have to say I have never heard of haskell before, so I was wondering if
you could give me any hint to fix it. A good starting point would be
pointing me where stg_ap_p_ret is defined, as I haven't been able to find
out (am I unable to use google?). All the best,
Roberto

Bug#357058: Please update config.*

2006-03-15 Thread Martin Michlmayr
Package: ud
Version: 0.7.1-19
Severity: wishlist

The config.* files your packages uses to determine the host system are
quite old. For example, it doesn't recognize mips64. While this is
not a problem right now since we don't have such a Debian port, your
config.* files are also too old to recognize a number of other systems
- ports people are currently working on, such as powerpc64 and
GNU/k*BSD. Therefore, please update your config.* files. The
autotools-dev contains good information how to do that.

Hey wait... You wrote it!

Why not start with the same initial file, a kind of splash screen,
a dumb /usr/share/vcg/simple.vcg or a sophisticated /usr/share/vcg/debian.vcg?
No coding required.

Hi Roberto,

the log that you link to seems to be for the GHC build, not HaskellDB,
and it doesn't seem to contain the error messages that you mention. I
did find the HaskellDB log with the errors at:

http://amd64.ftbfs.de/fetch.php?&pkg=haskelldb&ver=0.9.cvs.601-9&arch=amd64&stamp=1142372938&file=log&as=raw

I think that the stg_ap_p_ret function belongs to the GHC run-time
system, but I don't know what would cause the linker to not find it.

Thanks a lot, Björn. I confirm I got the url wrong, sorry.
Now, let's hope to hear some feedback from the GHC guys =)

Bug#357163: metamail: dumps core with -w option

2006-03-15 Thread Norman Ramsey

Given a mail file with any sort of attachment, metamail -w dumps core.
Without -w, many mail files are handled without a problem.

I've attached a crappy patch; it isn't clear to me how to fix it in a
clean yet not invasive way.

If the admin removes read permission from /dev/tty, then we cannot read
from /dev/tty. I don't see how this could be a bug. rxvt-unicode does
not change the permissions, nor can it. You changed the permissions to
something broken; there's no way a program can work around that. I
tested recreating the device with makedev; it now creates it 666.
