I asked [1] Marc Lehmann about this issue, and he replied "rxvt-unicode neither installs nor comes nor requires a system-wide app-defaults file, so it doesn't read one. Administrators and users can create their own config by setting XAPPLRESDIR." I tested this on my system with XAPPLRESDIR="/etc/X11/app-defaults" and it works perfectly. So this should be documented in README.Debian or the like. Someone from the QA group could prepare an upload for this bug but that's not useful as long as the RC bug is not resolved. tags 355247 + confirmed thanks bts I just checked in an up to date sid changeroot and I get a similar conflict on /var/lib/scrollkeeper/en_GB/scrollkeeper_cl.xml Since it is late and I don't know much about scrollkeeper yet (and the current packaging does not explicitly touch any of scrollkeeper_cl.xml files) I will investigate later, hopefully tomorrow.
