Bug#332759: gtkhx(GNU/k*BSD): FTBFS: out of date config.sub/config.guess

2005-10-08 Thread Aurelien Jarno
Package: gtkhx
Version: 0.9.4-2
Severity: important

Hello,

The current version of gtkhx fails to build on GNU/kFreeBSD,
because of outdated config.guess and config.sub.

The versions of config.guess and config.sub in gtkhx are too
old to correctly support Debian GNU/k*BSD. A version is needed
from this year, which is available in the autotools-dev packages
that are in current sarge, and sid.

You can simply copy them manually, but it can also be done
automatically using the method described in
/usr/share/doc/autotools-dev/README.Debian.gz

It would also be nice if you can ask upstream to update
config.guess and config.sub in their next release.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Bug#268281: missing words

2005-10-08 Thread Thijs Kinkhorst
Hoi Bas,

> Here are some words that seem to be missing from the dutch
> wordlist/spellchecker (taken from my ~/.aspell.dutch.pws):

I'm updating the 'dutch' package and looked into your suggestions.

> - uitprodukt

This is misspelled, should be "uitproduct", and is jargon (see below).

> - veelgemaakt

I'm not sure this needs to be concatenated.

> - online

This is currently misspelled, should be "on line", the new spelling per
Aug 2006 (to be announced soon) will probably change that into "online",
but we'll update the whole package then.

> - monopool
> - monopoolveld
> - golffunctie
> - vectorpotentiaal
> - Maxwellvergelijking

These are jargon. I'm not sure what the policy is on including those, I
think there are separate lists for specific jargon. Will look into that.
Same goes for the computer jargon.

> - marktwerking

This is present in VD HN, so should be included.

> - licentievoorwaarde
> - zelfgeschreven

These might be added aswell.

regards,
Thijs

Bug#321594: fixed

2005-10-08 Thread Debian Archive Maintenance
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

chastity-list | 0.5.20020928-9 | source, all

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are never removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

The call pygtk.requires("1.2") in all sample scripts in the
documentation directory should be replaced with the
pygtk.require("1.2"). That is very easy to verify, just look inside the
/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/pygtk.py module, there are two
functions, one of them called require(), not requires().

In the current state all samples are completely unusable.

Best regards,
Andrey

Package: python-gnome
Version: 1.4.5-2.1
Severity: important

Hello,

The current version of python-gnome fails to build on GNU/kFreeBSD,
because of outdated config.guess and config.sub.

The versions of config.guess and config.sub in python-gnome are too
old to correctly support Debian GNU/k*BSD. A version is needed
from this year, which is available in the autotools-dev packages
that are in current sarge, and sid.

You can simply copy them manually, but it can also be done
automatically using the method described in
/usr/share/doc/autotools-dev/README.Debian.gz

It would also be nice if you cans ask upstream to update
config.guess and config.sub in their next release.

Thanks for your cooperation.

i tried zsh 4.0.6-32 and was really impressed, but it was impossible for me
to make it my default shell and use login.app simultaneously. it was working
great with the bash and the tcsh. the normal console login works great.
my first attempt was to edit /etc/shell, but /bin/zsh and /usr/bin/zsh already
were there.

Hello,

I have set up some customizations in the diffs but they seem to be totally
ignored. I tried a dpkg-reconfigure to rebuild things, but there was no
visible change in /var/lib/chastity -- and restarting squid had no effect
either. grepping through postinst, prerm, etc. scripts yielded no reference
to the diffs, so I am left wondering if they are actually active.

Thanks,
John Goerzen

login.app asks configuration questions interactively on the terminal. This
assumes interactive installation of the package, which is not always the case
(especially when the package is included in a Custom Debian Distribution).

Also, such assumption is now deprecated as of version 3.6.1 of Debian Policy,
chapter 3.10.1:

Package maintainer scripts may prompt the user if necessary.
Prompting should be done by communicating through a program, such as
`debconf', which conforms to the Debian Configuration management
specification, version 2 or higher. Prompting the user by other
means, such as by hand[1], is now deprecated.

The solution is to either use debconf or somehow avoid such questions.

I just installed login app and it didn't load properly, my x-server always
crashed. I found out, that there was no /usr/share/Login.app/Panel.xpm ,
which login.app normally loads, but there were 4 other pictures. I renamed
one to Panel.xpm, now login.app work fine, but I think it should work without
doing that.

I am using Debian GNU/Linux Sarge, kernel 2.6.10 and libc-2.3.2.

You have to modify /etc/X11/?dm/Xservers yourself. Please read
/usr/doc/login.app/README.Debian for directions before proceeding.

The correct path seems to be /usr/share/doc/login.app/README.Debian.

Hello,

I've just installed cantus, And I've two comments on the .desktop file
(for menu):
- could you put it in the freedescktop directorie and not in the gnome
  specif one that is in
  /usr/share/applications/
  and not in
  /usr/share/gnome/apps/Applications/
so that people who don't use gnome but something else will have it
  in their menu
- could you add a Categorie so that it appear in the correct part of
  the menu. That is

[Desktop Entry]
Name=cantus Version 0.1
Comment=Mass renaming/tagging of mp3 and ogg files
Exec=cantus
Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/cantus/cantus_icon.png
Terminal=false
MultipleArgs=false
Type=Application
Categories=Application;AudioVideo;

(I've also add a better comment) thanks.

Package: login.app
Version: 1.2.1-18

When installing login.app and having x.org installed (and xfree purged)
the following message pauses the installation until enter is pressed.

Login.app.

You'll have to modify /etc/inittab and fix the symlinks yourself. Please
read /usr/doc/login.app/README.Debian for directions before proceeding.

"

I would expect the package to either accept the x.org configuration file
or have the proper dependencies if that is not possible.

This package was installed by accident, and I have no intentions of
using it.

One could say that this bug is a consequence of #256350.

I did notice that removal of the package might happen next month, and I
have no objections.

I have some music collections which have more than 99 files in them. I
would like to sort them by using their track numbers, but cantus doesn't
allow me to enter a 3 (or 4) digits number in the Track field.

Oh yes, and for some unknow reason, I cannot also enter a "0" in the
Track field using the numpad. But it works in the other fields.
I didn't notice a similar problem in any other app on my system.

For the Debian package please could you reference the XPM from
/usr/lib/menu/cantus by adding this:

icon="/usr/share/pixmaps/cantus/cantus.xpm"

For more information, please refer to the updated Debian Policy:
http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/menu.html/ch3.html#s3.7
This will ensure that your nice icon shows up in most menus.

Thanks for taking the time to deal with this, and thanks for all the effort you
have put in to maintaining great free software.

Package: chastity-list

This package depends/pre-depends on debconf without allowing the dependency
to be satisfied with an alternate of debconf-2.0. That is to say, its
dependency should read: debconf | debconf-2.0

Until this is fixed, it is impossible to use this package with cdebconf,
and very hard to impossible to install cdebconf at all.

debconf-2.0 was added to policy as a virtual package in 2002 and has been
provided by debconf since 2003. In early 2004, dh_installdebconf began
automatically adding it as an alternate to debconf in dependencies it
generates for packages using debhelper. So if you're using a current
version of debhelper you should only need to rebuild your package and
review it. If you are not using debhelper, make sure the dependency is
modified to allow debconf-2.0 to satisfy it.

This bug report was filed by semiautomated means after a trio of posts to
the debian-devel mailing list, and you have probably also received a bcced
mail about the issue before. If your package's dependencies are correct and
it really has some valid reason to depend on debconf alone, please reassign
this bug report to cdebconf with an explanation of what debconf feature
your package depends on, so it can be reimplemented in cdebconf.

Login.app's config scripts assume that if you have a display manager
installed (I have xdm installed) that it will be grabbing the local
console. In fact, xdm does not on my server, and I would rather use
login.app locally; It's prettier.

hi

I found out that login.app doesnt provide a xauth entry,
but it instead opens up access to the whole localhost , using xhost

this opens up many security problems: when root is working on console,
anybody on the localhost will be able to audit what s/he is doing

also, btw, login.app doesnt fit well in Debian:
indeed, it doesnt use the sysv /etc/init.d scheme
(so, it is not possible to disable it at will, to try another
manager like xdm)

thanks for your attention

App.cc uses sprintf() but does not include stdio.h. This fails to
compile on the ARM architecture.

Inserting a #include near the top of App.cc is sufficient to
fix this bug.

Package: login.app
Version: 1.2.1-11
Severity: normal

On a system with Login.app running and configured fine, dpkg
--purge login.app leaves Login.app running. This presents
problems: "console" makes X die and the retart with nothing
running. "halt" shuts down X and then does nothing. "shutdown" does the
same. I would suggest a killall login.app or something in the removal
script.

Package: login.app

I used to use xdm. I switched to login.app because xdm has
features I don't use that make it somewhat of a security risk, and also
because login.app looks sharper...

One thing I do miss, however, about xdm is that it runs from an
init.d script. This makes it very easy to turn it on and off
temporarily. Login.app's crontab method is rather inconvient in
comparison. This makes it difficult to test out new X configurations or
versions or just to turn it off when I want to boot to text mode only.

Package: login.app
Version: 1.2.1-10potato.1
Severity: wishlist

Currently, Login.app is hardcoded to execute /usr/X11R6/bin/X w/o any
options, making it difficult to specify the DPI, bpp, -nolisten tcp,
-deferglyphs, and so forth.

The simplest way to do this would be to #define DEFAULT_XSERVER in
Config.h to run a script (which users can then edit) which execs the
X server.
