Let's see what the developers think. Is cabot ready for etch, or
should we wait until someone adopts it?

Thanks,

Nobody stood up to go and support cabot. I guess someone should ask for
removal from the archive: people seem to be happy with caff, as shipped
with the signing-party package. Laurent Fousse has the final word on
this, though.

Bye,

#289417 and #280588 are not going to happen because last time I
checked, nobody was volunteer to continue maintaining cabot
_upstream-wise_. Considering the fact that cabot was never part of
testing *and* that a significant part of upstream thinks something
along the line of "Oh well, caff is part of the signing-party package
and is good enough/better than cabot anyway so why bother" so my
opinion is that letting cabot in etch as-is is a bad idea.

cabot needs someone that's interested in upstream development before
we let it go in etch. Merely adopting the debian package is not enough
for our users.

Cheers,

Laurent.

Qingning, you expressed an interest in adopting cabot. Is this still
the case? Would you like to take over upstream maintenance as well?

Thanks,

Matej

As one of the caff/signing-party people, I can say that caff serves
the same purpose as cabot, is a lot easier to setup and use, and has
the saner address verification "protocol".

I'd opt for removing cabot, but if there's someone to continue
upstream, that's also fine.

Hi!

There is a wrong message during:

# update-desktop-database -v
File '/usr/share/applications/sodipodi.desktop' contains invalid MIME type
'image/svg+xml,image/svg' that contains invalid characters

I think wrong line in /usr/share/applications/sodipodi.desktop is:

MimeType=image/svg+xml,image/svg

Instead of write ("," --> ";"):

MimeType=image/svg+xml;image/svg

Regards

Jura

the file .desktop for sodipodi (/usr/share/applications/sodipodi.desktop)
contains an invalid character, a colon (,) instead of a semicolon (;) in the
MimeType attribute. i've solved the problem changing:

 MimeType=image/svg+xml,image/svg

with this:

 MimeType=image/svg+xml;image/svg

Upcoming imagemagick soname bump.

2005-09-19 Thread Daniel Kobras
Moi!

If you've been bored of too few library transitions as of late, I've got
one here to cheer you up. As some of you are already painfully aware of,
recent versions of imagemagick provided a changed ABI with respect to
sarge without changing the library soname. See also #318176, #320029,
#325490, #325651, and #325720. Unfortunately, this breakage was only
notices when it had already hit testing. Fixing the mess has been given
priority by the release team, even if it means yet another transition
going on. I've uploaded imagemagick version 6:6.2.4.5-0.1 that provides
new library packages libmagick9, libmagick++9 and the respective -dev
packages. They're currently sitting in NEW, but hopefully will appear
soon on a mirror near you. Please update your Build-Depends and prepare
for a new upload of your packages to pick up the changed libraries. For
reference, there's a complete list of affected source packages below.

Regards,

Daniel.

Hi,

I am interested in cabot, but I do not seem to have the time to give it
proper care at the moment. I will set it back to orphan.

Package: libtool
Version: 1.5-5
Severity: normal

The test for whether the -fPIC flag is working is completely stupid.
I've obtained this in the configure script of a package generated with
libtool 1.5-4:
[blah blah blah test of a 1-line program with -fPIC]
   if (exit $ac_status) && test -s "$ac_outfile"; then
 # The compiler can only warn and ignore the option if not recognized
 # So say no if there are warnings

The comments says all. Of course there can be other warnings! Especially
given that the test re-uses all previously set compiler flags!

Luckily, GCC is not prone to give warnings with 1-liners C files. Still,
for example, using -Wpadded, it will on powerpc and alpha. This example
made hdf5 FTBFS because -fPIC was wrongly detected as non-working on
these arches.

Version: 1.5.6-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

 see http://www.gnu.org/software/libtool/libtool.html. This fixes a
number of bugs over 1.5.6, including the annoying ".libs/.libs" link
bug ( http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/libtool/2004-04/msg00146.html
), that in particular I would like to see fixed ;).

MfG,

Stephan
