2005-02-21 Thread Thilo Pfennig
Package: webmin-exim
Version: 0.2.6-2
Severity: normal

in this module i did not find a setting (paths!) for the location of exim.
that's ok,

fcheck rebuild it's database during upgrade.
this quite 'annoying' when upgrade-ing a bunch of systems, because i have
to sit and wait, till it's done. while the rebuild could be done in the
background. which makes upgrade much shorter.

Other problem is that for example if daemon X is upgraded too, it
shuts down daemon X , rebuilds fchecks database, and starts daemon X
again. I think that's unwanted behavour.

Instead of,
30 ** * * root/usr/sbin/fcheck -asxrf /etc/fcheck/fcheck.cfg

see the cron.d/anacron example of:

30 7* * *   roottest -x /etc/init.d/anacron && /etc/init.d/anacron start
 >/dev/null

This guarding is necessary because (when I delete, but don't purge,
fcheck because it takes more than 1/2 hour to run, yet runs every half
hour!) the remaining conf file (/etc/cron.d/fcheck) is still fired and
generates mail reporting the error:

/bin/sh: /usr/sbin/fcheck: No such file or directory

These are the changes made in the NMU. The patch applied to fix #134799

Package: fcheck
Version: 2.7.59-5
Severity: normal

I included /usr/local/bin and co. in my configuration files for rather
obvious reasons. These directories exist but don't have any files in
them right now. Creating the database is no problem, but when running
a baseline check (with the same options as used to create the baseline
database), fcheck bombs out with the following:

  PROGRESS: validating integrity of /usr/local/bin
STATUS:fcheck: Error: Baseline does not match configuration file on
_usr_local_bin
  terminating...

Subsequently commenting the /usr/local stuff in the configuration file
causes the baseline check to succeed normally.

A trudge through the source led to the following patch:

--- /usr/sbin/fcheckWed Jul 4 00:12:20 2001
+++ fcheck.patched  Wed Feb 20 14:09:49 2002

I've diffed the verbose output from both the original and the patched
versions and found no differences in the output up until the place the
original version bombs out. Since /usr/local/bin gets processed after
/bin that means that all the same files in /bin get checked in both
versions (just in case you got worried, I did ;-).
