Bug#289640: guppi: Please remove the Build-Depends on 'libdb3-dev'

Note that libgnome-dev (which guppi Build-Depends from) Depends from
libdb3-dev.

Although it is correct to remove libdb3-dev from guppi's Build-Depends,
this will not solve amd64 and ppc64 problems, since it is necessary to
install it in order to install libgnome-dev (if libgnome-dev
dependencies are right).

Because of the problems with 'libdb3-dev', the experimental amd64 and
ppc64 archives currently use a patched version of 'libgnome-dev'
which depends on 'libdb4.3-dev' instead of 'libdb3-dev'.

The 'libguppi-dev' package also explicitly Depends on 'libdb3-dev'
which causes similar problems.

Thank you for your help!

Andreas Jochens

A summary of the changes

Bug#289627: webmin-samba: Activating Samba user fails with no feedback

2005-01-10 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: webmin-samba
Version: 1.160-3
Severity: normal

In "Edit Samba users and passwords", at the screen "Edit Samba User",
the checkbox "Account disabled" is checked by default for all users,
giving no way to log in to the Samba server. Unchecking this box then
saving does not enable the account and gives no feedback. The admin who
unchecked and
restarted the server will be thinking that the account is enabled. Only
by accessing the "Edit Samba User" for that user again will the admin
realize that the activation failed. The reason for this failure is that
the password is empty (by default for all users) and (by default) "No password
required" is not
checked.
The workaround is to either set a password or enable "No password
required". Those workarounds are not obvious for real users that do have
a POSIX password until the admin knows that the Samba passwords are by
default empty, making that bug IMHO rather important.

Expected behavior
The checkbox is disabled until "No password
required" is enabled or a password is set.
OR
Webmin gives feedback if the modification required couldn't happen.

Bug#289628: webmin-samba: Wrong UID in "Edit Samba User"

2005-01-10 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: webmin-samba
Version: 1.160-3
Severity: normal

The "Unix UID" in "Edit Samba User" screen is always 1000, which
is my UID, while I'm logged in webmin as root. This is true for bin,
root, lp, etc. I have no idea why.
