Bug#238937: nedit: "Ctrl F" fails - idem for

2004-03-19 Thread Alexandre Pineau
Package: nedit
Version: 1:5.3-2
Severity: normal

Some times, the shortcut "Ctrl F" replace the selected text by
(respectively by for "Ctrl G".
A really annoying bug.

To reproduce :
1- "Ctrl F" to open search window.
2- Move the search window
3- type something and select find.
4- redo "Ctrl F" or type "Ctrl G".

I am able to reproduce it in less than one minute.
Once you have the bug, you can stop it in using the search menu.

The recent upstream decision to use static linking by default on Linux
oes not make sense for a Debian package. Please, link dynamically to

ii libc62.2.5-14.3 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an
ii xlibs4.1.0-17X Window System client libraries

I have a large file (165K) which crashes nedit when I split the screen. nedit
dies with a segmentation error. I tried to recompile the new nedit version 5.3
but got the same result.

With the help of the nedit team at sourceforge, we tracked the error to
problems with lesstif. The problem disappears for nedit linked against
OpenMotif.

Please consider linking against OpenMotif instead of lesstif. I noticed,
however, that the OpenMotif nedit has a problem with the middle mouse button.
Pressing the middle mouse button blanks out the screen!

5.3 seems to ignore the Class (NEdit rt. nedit) fontList X resource, in
addition the status line (an XmText widget) no longer seems to inherit
the application's fontList.

This behavour is contrary to that of 5.2, where you could write in
~/.Xresources:

NEdit*fontList: -*-arial-medium-r-normal-*-*-100-*-*-*-*-*-*

and it would set the UI font for all widgets.

Now you need to write:

nedit*fontList: -*-arial-medium-r-normal-*-*-100-*-*-p-*-iso8859-1
nedit*statsLine*fontList: -*-arial-medium-i-normal-*-*-100-*-*-p-*-iso8859-1

this directory, openning the next file will cause nedit to delete the
