This version (the latest SPE in subversion) works with python-wxgtk2.6 and 2.8, so there is no need for Debian to provide a python-wxgtk2.8 package. If SPE keeps on being orphaned I will try to package SPE myself, although it would be nicer if a debian developer wants to adopt SPE. Winpdb was till now in the spe package, but thanks to Bernd this is now an external dependency. Looking at the current spe package these dependencies seem to be missing as spe normally ships with xrced: python-xml and python-wxtools. If they are missing a part of the spe menu will be broken.
