Request to join Python Modules Packaging Team

2008-02-11 Thread Andrew Straw
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I would like to request membership in the python modules packaging team.
My near-term goal is to package the motmot family of camera utilities
for inclusion within Debian: http://code.astraw.com/projects/motmot/

Additionally, I develop several Python-centric pieces of software which
may be interesting to propose putting into Debian. Among these are
stdeb, a python-to-Debian source package conversion utility (
http://stdeb.python-hosting.com/ ), and the Vision Egg, a Python visual
stimulus generation library ( http://visionegg.org ).

I also am a user and upstream contributor to the matplotlib, numpy and
scipy projects, and would be happy to continue help with any Debian
specific issues with these and other packages I use.

Finally, I have some experience with Debian packaging. I have one
package in Debian (see
http://qa.debian.org/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ) and I
maintain unofficial repositories for most of the above software, in
addition to other packages, at http://debs.astraw.com/gutsy/

Thanks for your consideration,
Andrew

Welcome to the team!
I've also added you to the python applications team as some of the
things you want to package look more like applications than modules.

See you in #debian-python on OFTC,

cheers,

Bernd

A few year ago I wrote http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/pyprof/
which set out to do what you want. Unfortunately I've failed to
follow up on that since then. If there's enough interest it might be
interesting to dust it off, get it up to date with python 2.5 and try
to get a package in Debian.

Nice to see you accepted my invitation ;) Another place where you can

Hope to see your package soon ;)

Kindly,
Sandro
