is the "metroworks JIT" freely available or a "to buy" product?
where may it be found?

XFS works fine on the ppc - i'm running my imac complete with XFS
for some months now (also posted something about this from time to
time here) ... for XFS you can use the normal gcc (i used the one
part of SuSE 7.0 ppc) ... but aside from that it worked really good
for me you should make good backups with any of the new filesystems
anyway

to find more information about XFS look at

  http://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/

and my stuff for XFS on ppc you may find at

  http://people.spoiled.org/tgr/unix/xfs/

one problem which is there with XFS on ppc is the bad integration
of the ppc code into the mainline kernel (on which the SGI XFS cvs
tree - which to use i really recommend - is based) - so getting
XFS patched in might take a little bit of work if you are starting
from one of the ppc trees - or you use my merged trees from the
above link (will update it soon to 2.4.3)

good luck

[first - sorry for the delay - but i write this now offline
without a net connection for some time now ... ]

iirc - this is a problem with the ppc includes - if you still
have no solution for it when seing this posting - please let
me know and i'll look it up for you ...

but - there are as far as i remember - even debian packages
for XFS available ... best would be to search the XFS mailing-
list for them ...

good luck

it is usb audio - so you usually just have to make shure that
the audio.o module for usb audio is build and installed

good luck

but aside from that xfs is a really nice filesystem working well
on ppc too with all the tools working (dump/restore, debugger
etc.) ... i think you should have a look at it even if you
hate sgi (and xfs is now opensource - maybe this lets
you forget the sgi part :-)

sleep on non power- and ibooks

2001-09-17 Thread thomas graichen
just a generic question: is there any support for putting any non
powerbook or ibooks to sleep - like for instance an imac? ... in
principle it seems to work under macos and i think osx too - so
is there any support for this feature in linux too?

a lot of thanks in advance

afaik only ext3 - all others are metadata only
