Does these packages also contain the experimental drivers from the

I'm running xorg 6.9 right now and it seems to run faster then xorg 6.8 on my
albook. It also run stable. I don't have any 3D apps which I run normally. I
will inform myself more on the DRI-list for further info.

Thanks for the packages.

My xorg.log in included.

No, your have to recompile the source package. I had some problems with

I can confirm that VFAT doesn't support changing ownership.

I dont know if ppc is supported but there's a netbsd utility called g4u. The
homepage is http://www.feyrer.de/g4u/ Theoreticly it should also work for
ppc.

Re: 3com wireless usb adapter

2005-05-09 Thread Pim Snel
Yes, It works great. You have to download the latest driver version from CVS.

I've had a strange problem that the driver gave strange firmware download
errors. After I moved my adapter from the rightside usb-port to the leftside
the errors disappeared.

Greets,
Pim

XF86Config-4 for PowerBook 17" G4 1.5Ghz

2004-11-02 Thread Pim Snel
Hi,

I just bought my thirst Mac and though MacOS X is a briliant and beautifull
environment I desparately need my KDE desktop to be able to work again.

I have spent a lot of time in trying to find, generate and guess the right
XF86Config-4 settings for the 17" display which can do 1440x900 at 32 bits
and the ATI mobility radeon 9700, but my efforts all end up in a messed up
display even if I try lower resolutions.

Has someone had more luck with the above hardware and can you share your XFree
setup or maybe other tricks howto get X running on this machine?

My thanks will be great!

Greetings,
Pim Snel

Ps: can a wrong xf86config also damage a LCD display like a CRT display?

I'm finally there. It weren't the modelines at all. I compiled the latest
kernel (2.6.9) with a correct radeonfb module and it works great now. A pure
driver problem. GLX and DRI are still on my list but this can wait.

If other have the same problem make sure to add this to your yaboot.conf:

append="video=radeonfb"

Pim

If you've installed from one of the latest Sarge's you can just copy
/boot/config-2.6.8-powerpc to your kernel source directory.

Also search for good debian kernel compile howto's There are a lot.
