I installed sarge a few days ago on a ibook g3, without problems.
Simply press the C key during boot (with the sarge cd inserted),
and the sarge installer will automagically start.

are you sure? The problem is that powerbook's mini-pci slot is not
standard. I hope that you will find a suitable card, but I think it will
be difficoult.

To resolve the problem, I bought a dlink DWL-122 (usb), tht worked
perfectly.

Hi all, I'm trying to set up the vga out over an Albook 15", but I've
different problems ; I've successfully cloned the screen, but I cannot choose 2
different resolutions for my laptop screen and the external monitor, it
works only applying the same resolution to both. I've installed dri-trunk
Xfree, but the problem remains.

Have you a working configuration for an ati based albook?
Thanks to all, I attach mine.

I tried xorg with your patch, but the problem still remains: I cannot use
a cloned screen with a different resolution; the cloned screen alwais has
my laptop's resolution, always.
If I put the second screen on one side, so not cloning it, but simply
switching with the mouse pointer from one screen to another, I can use all
the resolutions I want. But If I try to clone the screen, the resolution
is only one for both.

I tried many different XF86Configs (xorg.conf), without success.
The last config I believe in is attached here below.
Have you some Ideas, hints?

Thank you

Again on Cloning display

2004-12-28 Thread Daniele Menozzi
Hi all, I'm trying again to clone my albook15" 's display on a crt monitor,
but I cannot use 2 different resolutions for the 2 monitors. Im trying to use
xorg, with
Behn's patches, and mergedfb, but I always obtain that if I use a 1280x854
resolution on albook, the virtual resolution on the external crt is
1280x854, with its real resolution set to 640x480(so the image printed in the
second crt monitor is bigger the his real size). I think that he problem can
be solved setting up a different virtual resolution on external monitor,
but I cannot understand how to do it..
Thank you all, here below you can find xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log

finally, I've found a way to have mirroring with different resolutions.
I've dropped mergedfb and used xinerama instead.
My config works automatically with all dcc-supporting monitors(well, I
hope ^_^), but need specific configuration (hsync, vrefresh) for monitors that
don't support
dcc (like my old 14").
But in the real word, at this moment, I have to consider this as a
problem? How many non-dcc-supporting harwdare I can find on my way? I
mean, I think that I can found a low number of monitors that do not
support dcc.
But Maybe, I can found other hardare that do not support dcc (like slide
floodlights, ecc)..

Ok, but now I have another problem: I want to use a TV as a secondary monitor
(for viewing film).
I 'm trying to link the svga-out(composite) with my tv, but:

- the svga out works only if I link an external monitor to the DVI port
- when the svga port is active (so only with an external monitor plugged
in the DVI port), if I try to link it with my TV, signal
has wrong hsync/vrefresh for my tv (standard PAL, I live in Italy).

have you some advices?
Here you can find my xorg.conf

Thank you all, bye
Menoz

2005-01-09 Thread Daniele Menozzi
Hi all, I know that svga-out do not work on radeon 9600 (powerbooks).
But, is it working on new Ibooks, with radeon 9200?

Thank you so much
