Yesterday I had by mistake removed one line from the debian/rules file and
my package was not getting installed properly. I have corrected it today and
uploaded it on my webpage:

Please have a look at it.
Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Well, I agree that the name is bit misleading, So i decided to change my
package's name and I have renamed it as "Krickscore". I have updated all the
source files and they can be downloaded from:

Any other comments regarding the package are welcome.

Help with Kim package

2006-04-16 Thread Varun Hiremath
Hello,
I was working on #361876 Kim - Kde image menu RFP retitled as ITP.

This package doesn't have any Makefile and has a single installation script
install.sh which needs to be run as root to install the package. This
install script gives three options :

1)Standard install
2)With plugin
3)Uninstall

So, I wanted to ask what would be the best way of building this package. I have
written
a Makefile for this package, which does the work of this install script, but
how
do i give two options for install or do i just make "with plugins" as default,
which
i am doing currently.

One more thing, this package has lot of binary files and lintian and linda give
this
warning for each of the binary files, "W: kim: binary-without-manpage ...",
which
they should, because i haven't written any manpage. There are not many options
for
these binary files, and I think manpage for each of the binary file is not
required.
But still if manpage is a must, how can i write a common manpage for all the
binary
files.

The sources to this package can be found at:
http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/~ae03b032/debian_packages/kim/

Thank You

RFC: libqtpod

2006-08-19 Thread Varun Hiremath
Hello Mentros,
I am looking for comments and suggestions about my package libqtpod:

  Package name: libqtpod
  Version : 0.3-1
  Upstream Author : Michael Schulze
* URL : http://freshmeat.net/projects/libqtpod/
* License : GPL

Description:
libqtpod provides access to the contents of an Apple iPod. The code was
formerly part of the kio ipodslave, but is now a separate Qt-based
library. The library features reading and writing of the iTunesDB music
database and provides access to hardware specific information like disc
space statistics.

libqtpod0 : a Qt based library to access the data on an Apple iPod.
libqtpod0-dev : development files.

The trick is to use -v option with dpkg-buildpackage

From man dpkg-buildpackage:

-vversion
In dpkg-buildpackage, dpkg-genchanges and dpkg-parsechangelog this
causes changelog information from all versions strictly later than
version to be used.

I can upload the package, but I see some easy-to-fix lintian warnings:

$ lintian -I testng_5.11+dfsg-2_amd64.changes
I: testng source: debian-watch-file-is-missing
W: testng source: out-of-date-standards-version 3.8.4 (current is 3.9.1)
I: testng source: unused-override patch-system-but-direct-changes-in-diff

I: testng-doc: package-contains-empty-directory
usr/share/doc/testng/examples/build/classes/
I: testng-doc: package-contains-empty-directory
usr/share/doc/testng/examples/build/test-output/
I: testng-doc: package-contains-empty-directory
usr/share/doc/testng/examples/build/test-report/

Would you like to fix any of these? If this minimal-change RC fix
upload is intended for squeeze, and you want to fix these lintian
issues later, then I don't mind uploading this version. Let me know
what you think.

I would upload the package if you fixed the following (minor) issues:

1/ lintian W: glogg source: out-of-date-standards-version 3.8.4 (current is
3.9.1)
(please update the lintian package on your system)

2/ Since this would be the first upload to Debian, it would be good to
cleanup the debian/changelog and add a single entry for 0.8.0-1 as
"Initial upload (Closes: #ITP-BUG)".

For some reason if you would like to retain the old changelog entries
then that is also fine, but I would remove them to avoid any confusion.

Thanks,
Varun

Yes, that should be fine.
