Some comments on your package: debian/copyright contains boilerplate that you should *READ*, take action and then remove! remove the configure target if debian/rules, it isn't used the short description should not just be the first line of the long description. use something like "display IMAP quota status in icedove" You run dh_installman while not installing any manual pages, why? Why is the package arch any? none of the installed files seem to be architecture specific You run dh_strip on a package that should be arch all, why? You run dh_installexamples while not installing any examples, why? The upstream tarball doesn't seem to have any copyright information or a licence, so by default we have no right to distribute it. No sponsor should upload this package. The upstream tarball has a prebuilt .jar that contains a DEADJOE file, upstream should remove that DEADJOE file. It would be nice if upstream could release a *source code* tarball as well as the prebuilt jar. You don't include a debian/watch file and a debian/rules get-orig-source target that knows how to recreate your .orig.tar.gz from the files that upstream provides. -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Your patches should document why they were added to the package and who wrote them. You might want to add this to your ~/.quiltrc and regen the patches: QUILT_REFRESH_ARGS="-p0 --no-timestamps --no-index" These help in creating patch files that are more friendly to people using interdiff on your diff.gz. Lintian warnings when run with -I: I: daemonlogger: hyphen-used-as-minus-sign usr/share/man/man1/daemonlogger.1.gz:45 I: daemonlogger: hyphen-used-as-minus-sign usr/share/man/man1/daemonlogger.1.gz:71 I: daemonlogger: hyphen-used-as-minus-sign usr/share/man/man1/daemonlogger.1.gz:72 No need to install the NEWS file The readme says: "This code is largely untested and probably completely shoddy. YMMV.", is it really that untested? Presumably you have tested it yourself and can patch that statement out? The upstream source tarball contains ._COPYING and ._ChangeLog - I assume these are from MacOS X, please ask upstream to remove them in the next version (teaching them about "make dist" should be enough). When building, I see this: cc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -g -Wall -O2 -g -O0 -Wall -I/usr/include -c daemonlogger.c cc -g -Wall -O2 -g -O0 -Wall -I/usr/include -L/usr/lib -ldumbnet -o daemonlogger daemonlogger.o -lpcap -ldumbnet IIRC, debian policy is to use -O2 unless DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=noopt is set, please fix this to use only one -OX flag and check if noopt works. -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". I'm not very keen on python so I really have no idea about what packaging python libraries require (it is actually confusing the fact that there are three debhelpers for it: dh_python, dh_pysupport and dh_pycentral). I took a quick look at your package and here are some notes: * Doesn't seem to require python-all-dev: $ dpkg-buildpackage dpkg-buildpackage: source package wxglade dpkg-buildpackage: source version 0.5-1 dpkg-buildpackage: source changed by Georges Khaznadar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> dpkg-buildpackage: host architecture i386 dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: python-all-dev (>= 2.3.5-11) dpkg-buildpackage: warning: Build dependencies/conflicts unsatisfied; aborting. dpkg-buildpackage: warning: (Use -d flag to override.) $ dpkg-buildpackage -d dpkg-buildpackage: source package wxglade dpkg-buildpackage: source version 0.5-1 dpkg-buildpackage: source changed by Georges Khaznadar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> dpkg-buildpackage: host architecture i386 ... warning, `debian/python-wxglade/DEBIAN/control' contains user-defined field `Python-Version' dpkg-deb: building package `python-wxglade' in `../python-wxglade_0.5-1_all.deb'. dpkg-deb: ignoring 1 warnings about the control file(s) signfile wxglade_0.5-1.dsc gpg: skipped "Georges Khaznadar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>": secret key not available gpg: [stdin]: clearsign failed: secret key not available dpkg-genchanges >../wxglade_0.5-1_i386.changes dpkg-genchanges: including full source code in upload dpkg-buildpackage: full upload (original source is included) dpkg-buildpackage: warning: Failed to sign .dsc and .changes file * dh_python isn't used: -- ... dh_fixperms dh_pycentral dh_python dh_python: Doing nothing since dh_pycompat exists; dh_pysupport or dh_pycentral should do the work. You can remove dh_python from your rules file. dh_installdeb ... -- * .orig contains a debian/ directory, please contact upstream and tell them ship the man page as upstream and not ship the debian directory in their tarballs (it is not recommended and it _IS_ the real source of lintian's warning: debian/files is in upstream's tarball). * .orig.tar.gz and upstream's .tar.gz differ (and they shouldn't): $ md5sum *0.5*.tar.gz 345d735076c6dda6a86db604612c6f39 wxglade_0.5.orig.tar.gz 705855ef251053bd6b032bc5667cea19 wxGlade-0.5.tar.gz * there's a new upstream version I personally recommend you to either contact upstream so they don't ship debian/ and make a new package from scratch (preserving the changelog file).
