Some people filter out HTML emails.

Please send me link that which packages are looking form help .

Packages which are in need for help are listed here:
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/help_requested

Also every bug report in the BTS (bugs.debian.org) which has a help
tag set is also in need for help.

Generally you can look at the WNPP page:
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/ and get an idea about what's what.

And how will I contact them.

Bug reports submitted to the corresponding packages are the best way to do that.
See more information at: http://www.debian.org/Bugs/

If you stop sending HTML mails you may get replies...

Did you ever read http://www.debian.org ? There is a link there, named
"Help Debian" in the lower part of the links section at left.

Just read on. It takes time, but you should be able to figure out this
by yourself.

Dear Deepak,

If you are interested in biology, there are many softwares that you
could package. I have established some wiki pages in which I listed the
programs, their licences, and their prospective dependancies.

http://wiki.debian.org/DebianSystemsBiology
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianSequenceAnalysis
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianMolecularBiology
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianGenomics

I am sure you can find something to your taste, from the easy to the
very challenging task. Do not hesitate to come discuss on the debian-med
mailing list if you are interested in packaging those software.

Also, a few of them may be interesting for non-biologists, in particular
the packages related to graphes in DebianSystemsBiology. Tool such as
the ones to study the Debian keyring to produce pictures like this
http://www.phillylinux.org/keys/phillylinux.jpg are increseangly popular
in biology.

Have a nice day.

PS: many of us tend to discard html mails when they are not properly
displayed on console tools. Please try to use plain text when html is
not required (= 99.99 % of the times).

Hi!

On it's way up.

Minor point: You mention the homepage in the package desciption, but
not as the developer reference recommends [1]. It would be nice, if you
could fix that with the next version.

Said Alexander on a „fix Homepage: semiheader URLs" rampage ;-)

Re: contribution in Debian,

2006-07-21 Thread Carlo Segre

Look at:

http://www.debian.org/devel/

http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/

There is lots of information there to help you get started. The first
thing you could do is read the New maintainer's guide and then find a
package which needs help...

libapt-pkg/python-apt API documentation?

2006-07-21 Thread Nikolaus Schulz
Hi all,

is there any documentation of the libapt-pkg resp. python-apt API?
AFAICS their API is very much the same. libapt-pkg-doc is, hm... an
interesting, though incomplete description of APT internals and
concepts, but not much help wrt the libapt-pkg API.

The best thing I've found so far are the man pages of
libapt-pkg-perl. If that's really all, I guess I'll have to go and read
the libapt-pkg source, and perhaps some of the python-apt wrapper
source, too. :-/

Note there is a 3-years-old python-apt wishlist bug open, see
http://bugs.debian.org/204818 ... I don't think this really classifies
as mere wishlist. *sigh*

Thanks,
Nikolaus
