Hello,
May I ask for status update?

You have uploaded 0.13.3-1 yesterday with still "Architecture: any"
and it has therefore built and been uploaed by s390 *again*.
Futhermore there is still no request for removing the s390 binaries
from the archive on http://bugs.debian.org/ftp.debian.org

It doesn't matter what the source package says anyway. In order to get
s390 to stop building it, you need to get it added to
Packages-arch-specific.

herm... sorry, after the suggestion from Steve Lagasek[1] I changed my
mind a little (I understood the usefullness of Packages-arch-specific),
see below

I'm trying to contact ftpmaters asking them to add
xfree86-driver-synaptics to Packages-arch-specific with an '!s390' entry
(as xsever-xfree86 has the same entry there) and to remove the s390
binary.

I haven't submitted a bug since this is not a 'complete' removal (as
read on devel-ref 5.9.2) but I wrote to them directly ([EMAIL PROTECTED]).
Am I wrong wrt to this procedure?

thanks

The file itself
(http://buildd.debian.org/quinn-diff/Packages-arch-specific) lists a
contact procedure at the top.

That is not completely correct.

Using 'Architecture: [!s390]' accomplishes some things:

* no accidental (manual?) build on s390.
* the autobuilders will not *successfully* build it. (The buildlog
will say something like 's390 not in list of supported archs')
* it serves for documentation.

An (additional) entry in Packages-Arch-Specific is just cleaner and
nicer, because the buildd will not even /try/ to build the package.

And all this is orthogonal to the requirement that the existing s390
binaries in archive need to *also* be removed, using a bug-report
against ftp.debian.org.

'Architecture: any' and an entry in Packages-arch-specific.

RFS (take 2): qdu - Graphical disk usage utility displaying scalable histograms

2004-06-21 Thread Vineet Kumar

Hello,

I posted a couple of weeks back requesting a sponsor for a
qdu package I created.

The first time I posted an RFS, Frank Lichtenheld pointed
out some areas for improvement in the package. I made an
updated version based on his suggestions, but the process
stalled there -- I didn't get any interest from anyone
volunteering to sponsor/upload the package. The package is
now lintian- and linda- clean and builds cleanly in
pbuilder.

In conversations with the upstream author, he was excited
about getting the package included in Debian, so I don't
want to drop the ball on it now.

Here is some more information on the package and its current
status:

ITP bug:

http://bugs.debian.org/250280

upstream web site:

http://artis.imag.fr/Members/Gilles.Debunne/Code/QDU/

Packages available for download:

http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/q/qdu/

I hope I can find someone willing to help out so that I
don't have to deliver disappointing news to the upstream author.

Please CC me on any replies in this thread.

good times,
Vineet

I was digging around trying to find a useful emulation-related utilities
after my failed attempt at packaging Gens due to legal issues[0], and
somebody pointed me to this little gem. At first it appeared that it was
non-free[1], but after some digging around I discovered it's just fine[2].
Now, the odd part is that the tarball came with some debian stuff already in
it, so it looks like somebody tried to package this about two years ago. (I
saw a thread on an l.d.o list about it because of the legal issues mentioned
in [1], but I can't remember where and I can't find it again.) I can't find
any reference to it in the archive, unless I'm missing something obvious, so
I don't think it ever actually made it into Debian. It was pretty old
(Standards 3.2.1), and it split a 3 meg package into about 7 or 8
subpackages, which strikes me as a little silly, so I snagged the man pages
and wrote the rest of the debian/ tree from scratch. ITP is at [3], and
packages are available on m.d.n[4][5]. Copyright file is at [6] if you want
to glance at what I wrote for it without downloading first. Comments are
welcome, and thanks in advance. :)

I based my assumption on the fact that xserver-xfree86 has
'Architecture: any' and an entry in Packages-arch-specific.
I'm a little confused now.

fine, I'll submit the bug asap

RFS: xasteroids

2004-06-21 Thread bart
Hi,

I'm looking for a sponsor for xasteroids. Its been orphaned and I would
like to adopt it. I have fixed an outstanding bug on it.

The deb packages are here:
http://illegalgoose.com/xast/index.html

Package: xasteroids
Version: 5.0-13
Section: games
Description: X-based asteroids-style arcade game
A very fast paced arcade game similar to the well
known video game called Asteroids. Your task is
to change big rocks into smaller ones by hitting
them with a beam.

Thanks in advanced for any help or comments,
Bart

RFS: rlplot -- generate publication quality graphs

2004-06-21 Thread James Stone
Changes have now been made... still looking for a sponsor..

I am looking for a sponsor for rlplot, a GUI based program to generate
quality scientific graphs. It adds several features which are not readily
available with other plotting packages like gnuplot such as good support
for bar charts with error bars.

I have uploaded the packages to

http://www.jmstone.dsl.pipex.com/rlplot

Any comments welcomed.

James Stone
