RFS: metapixel

2004-06-13 Thread Chris Vanden Berghe
Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a sponsor for my metapixel package. The package is
available at mentors.debian.net.

It's a nice little tool that allows you to create a mosaic of an
existing photo using your complete collection of photos as a base. The
package is very small, easy to understand and lintian clean. So it
shouldn't be a lot of work (virtually none).

I hope very much to hear from you!

Kind regards,
Chris.

Package: wnpp

* Package name: metapixel
  Version : 0.9
  Upstream Author : Mark Probst <[EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/~schani/metapixel/
* License : GPL
  Description : a generator for photomosaics

 Metapixel is a program for generating photomosaics. It can generate
 classical photomosaics, in which the source image is viewed as a matrix
 of equally sized rectangles for each of which a matching image is
 substitued, as well as collage-style photomosaics, in which rectangular
 parts of the source image at arbitrary positions (i.e. not aligned to a
 matrix) are substituted by matching images.

Please package this (shared I suppose?) library in the normal way
as librswf and librswf-dev.

This is not a shared library. it is meant to be statically linked (examples
are provided in /usr/share/doc/examples)

I'm not a DD, so I cannot sponsor your package, but here is some
comments:

- Remove the unnecessary comments of debian/rules.

- Your README.Debian will be empty?.

Anyway, your package looks good.

Good luck,
Bruno.

packaging and CVS on alioth

Would it be a good idea to put the packaging in CVS? How would
that be done? The entire source tree seems a bit large. Would it work
to only put the debian subdirectory in cvs? That would mean that all
modifications to the source have to be done by patching from the
debian subdirectory. Is there a better way?

I tried to look at examples at alioth, but I found none with public cvs.

Cheers,
Remco.

We from the perl group[1] used CVS and now SVN for packaging. There is
cvs-buildpackage and svn-buildpackage that assist you in doing so.
Little HOWTOs are at [1].

svn-buildpackage has special support for only having the debian dir in
svn, you might want to check that out.

On how to get a svn repository: see http://svn.debian.org/

Here, I created my key in Latin-1. To make debsign use iit even though the
control file is in UTF-8, I enabled the following option in .gnupg/gpg.conf:

charset utf-8

I have no idea if this will work for a Latin-2 key, but it's worth trying.
