Hello again, I kept thinking about how to consistently present the blends without encumbering particularly active ones, like Debian Med, in its creativity. And we shall not invest too much into an active maintenance of those, either. It hence needs to be automated and should somehow now break too much of the design that the www.debian.org pages established - us liking it or not since too many already think that the Debian Med packages would somehow be separate from Debian and its derivative distributions. On the page as of today I see (with my inner eyes only): * a _very_short description of who we are and what we do * latest uploaded packages that is team maintained * news - here I thought we could find a way to show the last entry on the mailing list that has a [news] tag in the subject line * how to meet - maybe we find a way to similarly have [meeting] tags on our mailing list * pointer to the tasks pages * pointer to the alioth project * pointer to tutorials - here I thought we should check for the existence of a wiki.debian.org//tutorials page and show the link or not * pointer to friends - analogously, large influential projects or institutions using/supporting Debian should be listed * support - here I thought we should check for the existence of a wiki.debian.org//support page and show the link or not * I liked how Debian Astro designed their landing page: Screenshots. I hence propose to ask popcon.debian.org for the 5 most used tools that have screenshots and show them. I am not ultimately convinced that a command line application needs a screenshot of the console, though, maybe a nice logo should then be used, instead. The idea of a "support" page I presume to spawn some debate. However, not everyone wants to discuss their local issues on the mailing list and is prepared to pay. We should prepare for that, which IMHO will also help our distribution - and yield more pizze on our Sprints. Something that Debian web pages are particularly excited about is the localisation to many languages - many more than any commercial institution could possibly offer. For bioinformaticians in Debian Med this is mostly a non-issue. But for Debian Edu it would be very important. The descriptions of our packages are typically translated. For the skeleton let us see what we can do. I'll have to dig into many unknown areas of Debian for this and have no exact idea about how soon I can come up with anything.
