Thanks. If you look at the debian/README* files these also are
templates with no meaning. I guess you did tried dh_make which usually
creates those templates. In general it is a good idea to use dh_make
but I'm for myself (and for the rest of the Debian Med team) created
some more simple template that even implements part of the Debian Med
policy. So you (or anybody else) might like to try

   svn://svn.debian.org/svn/debian-med/trunk/package_template

which I just tweak regarding the package name and I'm way more happy
with this than I was with dh_make.

Hope this helps

   Andreas.

Hi Steffen,
what is current package status of jbrowse? I see you made some work in
SVN but package is not uploaded.

[fis-gtm] git-buildpackage is working

2013-02-19 Thread Amul Shah

FYI,
Thanks to questions from Luis and Andreas, I have moved forward. :) My first mistake was not using sudo to start
git-buildpacakge. I dropped cowbuilder and the build works. But, you knew there was one, I cannot complete the build because I
don't have GPG keys!

This is how the build log finishes.
---
Finished running lintian.
Now signing changes and any dsc files...
 signfile fis-gtm_6.0-001-1.dsc Amul Shah
gpg: skipped "Amul Shah ": secret key not available
gpg: /tmp/debsign.lPOutHj4/fis-gtm_6.0-001-1.dsc: clearsign failed: secret key
not available
debsign: gpg error occurred! Aborting
---

I did create a GPG key for myself defined for my personal email address, not my work email address. How do others handle this?
Do you create two keys? Or do you create just one for your personal email address?

thanks,
Amul

I found a thread with a similar error, http://lists.debian.org/debian-med/2012/10/msg00057.html, but I did push all my changes

I can debcheckout from the repo on my machine. But when I try to use git-buildpackage, it complains about "cp: cannot stat
`/var/cache/pbuilder/base.cow': No such file or directory". I guess I'm missing some setup. If so, is there a quick start
guide? Otherwise, what doc do I need to read?

thanks,
Amul

It does help. I removed those files and compared against your template. Things look better. I realized my mistake with
git-buildpackage and sent another mail about where I am with that.

Hi Amul,

before I answer your question: The policy on all lists
@lists.debian.org is to not CC the posters (except expressed
explicitly.) So please just leave out the CCs and use the "list-reply"
feature of your MUA (which hopefully will have this - it 'L' in mutt)

Good. However, you finally want to use cowbuilder and so it makes sense
to get this working at some point in time.

It makes sense to have one key and attach all your e-mail addresses to
it - except you have some very specific needs.

Kind regards

   Andreas.

[amul:2] Thunderbird supports that. I ignore mails not addressed to me. ;)

[amul:2] Will do. After that, what is necessary for this to be released?

Assumed you mean with "released" the upload to the Debian mirror: You
just need to confirm here (on the list) that you are ready with the
package. A sponsor (any DD in the team - in this case most probably
but not necessarily me) will check the packaging and upload.

Kind regards

  Andreas.
