Free & nonfree ISOs exactly the same??

2014-04-08 Thread dan
Why is there no difference between the free and nonfree ISO images? For
example..

debian-live-7.4-i386-xfce-desktop.iso
..and..
debian-live-7.4-i386-xfce-desktop+nonfree.iso

..are exactly the same size, and the nonfree one doesn't actually have any
nonfree firmware on it. It's been this way since at least 7.0, that I know of.

Is there a place I can get live, installable ISOs that do actually have the
nonfree firmware? Or a fairly easy way to make one myself? It would save a
lot of time & effort when installing.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Can't do it with live-build, as apparently it can
pull packages only from main. Nonfree firmware, of course, is in nonfree.

The ISO there is exactly the same as the one at live.debian.org, and does
not include the nonfree firmware, even though it says it does.

Bug#515721: live-helper: Boot methods there, but commented out

2009-05-16 Thread Dan Greene
Package: live-helper
Version: 1.0.4-1
Severity: normal

I notice that the boot methods exist in the file live.cfg, but are
commented out.

Specifically, the file
/usr/share/live-helper/templates.debian/syslinux/common/live.cfg
contains the commented-out lines
#label floppy
# localboot 0x00

#label disk1
# localboot 0x80

#label disk2
# localboot 0x81

#label nextboot
#localboot -1

After installing a live system on a USB flash drive, I uncommented the
nextboot lines, and that boot method (which, incidentally, is not mentioned
in the help, unlike disk1 and disk2), worked correctly.

What do I do next?

BTW, pardon me, why is debian-squeeze-live-beta2-i386-lxde-desktop.iso 750 MB?
- does not fit on CD.

You can install the latest version of Firefox from Ubuntuzilla:

http://ubuntuzilla.sourceforge.net

You want to uninstall Iceweasel before installing Firefox. I've had trouble
if I didn't do that.
