loss of display when closing screen
I run debian mostly 2.0 with kernel 2.2.13, xserver-neomagic 1.1.0-1-1 on a Gateway solo 2500. Runs just great except: 1. When i close the display and open it again, then i only get a white screen. The only way to get the screen back is C-A-BS and new login. I van avoid it by switching to console 1 by C-A-F1 before closing and switching back after open. 2. When i leave the machine unattended line-powered get a errormessage: "Nov 19 19:53:11 matthschulzg kernel: apm_bios: set display standby: Unable to enter requested state" Any ideas? Matth

Compaq Contura 410 and DLinkk DFE-650TX
Hi all, I ran into trouble with my old Contura 410 and my new DFE-650TX ethernetcard. The card works fine in my worklaptop (Gateway 2500). It does not work in the old Contura. When I insert the card it beeps two times and the eth0 is set up and shown by ifconfig. However the led's at the connectorbox are blinking and there is no connection to the network. I played around a little bit and learned that this is the case also when /etc/pcmcia/network is not run. So I set the switch -x in the first line and ran it by hand. configuration hardwareclock - timezone - localtime
Hi all, I'm sure this was handled before, but i couldn't find any useful stuff. Can somebody point me to a good description, how to set timezone and localtime, so i can leave the hardwareclock at CST/CDST and change the linux-systemtime between different timezones. How can i adjust the hardwareclock automaticly? So far i understand the docs for xntp3 and crony they adjust the systemtime only. Thanks Matth

After it was necessary to do a new install from scratch i just installed base, apt and ppp and did all the other stuff per dselect-apt. Actually, i didn't touch my CDROM since about 4 weeks. (And there is a builtin in my computer now!) Matth
