Installing Debian On Purism Librem 13
Hello debian-laptop@ During testing the Purism Librem 13, I decided to test my favorite distribution, Debian, on the latest 13" laptop. The results are in: https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Purism/Librem%2013 So I am sending this email per the instructions from your HowToContribute page. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
Re: Installing Debian On Purism Librem 13
Thanks for writing! Being a long-time Debian user, building hardware that requires no binaries in the kernel to run a GNU/Linux system, especially Debian was a great internal accomplishment, which is why I wanted to share via the DebianOn process. Thanks! Todd. On Tue, 2015-10-20 at 02:56 +0530, Raju Vindane wrote: > Thanks a lot for the update. I however am having exactly the problem you mentioned with xfree86, they do not support the card yet, I've tried all savage family, creating my own clocksline, etc... xfree86 geeks are working on it for the next release... I can use vga16 with 800x600 but that's no good with the larger screen. Great laptop though!

sound on 8100
* debian 2.2.15 * xf86_fbdev Has anybody successfully installed any sound on the tecra 8100? Here is my current problem: 1) running anything but oss ; doesn't work; 2) running oss with no x & apmd killed ; works great; 3) running oss with no x & apmd running ; works great; 4) running oss with x apmd killed ; locks up after 3-5min; 5) running oss with x apmd running ; locks up after 3-5min; 6) running oss with x period (no matter what) ; locks up after 3-5min; Thanks!

Thanks to all who got me on my way. the dmesg email in particular was helpful as it gave me the irq sharing violations, and at least a means to correct it.

Anyone know if it's possible to > change the PCI IRQ of cards on a Tecra 8100? (Anyone else know > what else is on IRQ 11?) well sadly I cannot, however, you can change the irq for your oss midi driver. lemme see... I put it on irq 5, during oss-install manual configuration. I guess I should have mentioned that, sorry (lost in the mix of trial and error debugging)

You missed nothing, I cannot either (which doesn't mean it isn't possible, but it sure seems like it isn't) > Help? are you using osslinux393k-2215-UP.tar.gz? with a 2.2.15 kernel?

I thought I would let the community know that this new laptop was an easy install. I posted my instructions to http://www.linux-laptop.net If anybody needs the instructions they're found here: http://www.m2n.com/projects/mlmps/laptop/dell/latitude/c810
