Re: IBM Thinkpad A21p

2001-02-27 Thread Todd V . Rovito
I have a IBM Thinkpad A20m and its the perfect notebook for me. Its
running Debian 2.2 Potato. Stay away from the 3com network interface,
I know my A20m uses an Intel EtherPro 10/100 and it works perfect. I
am not sure if Intel EtherPro 10/100 = EtherJet. If you go to the
IBM web site they have detail technical specs. Also a good way to
guarantee Linux Compatibility is to pick the Thinkpad model with linux
preinstalled. The screen is incredible and I have an older model! Thinkpads
are expensive but worth the investment.

Re: Laptop Recommendations

2001-03-16 Thread Todd V . Rovito
Just as a warning I started by purchasing a used cheap notebook, it
was a IBM ThinkPad 760EL that I purchased from a used computer store cheap.
The problem is I got addicted to the concept of portable computer and had
to have a newer, faster, and better notebook so I now own a ThinkPad A20M.
The ThinkPad A20M is great and I can not imagine life with out it! If this
is something you are going to use alot you may want to purchase a new laptop.

Dr. Lewis,
I would be more then willing to help you complete the install.
The easiest way to do this is for you to have access to 2 computers
your laptop and another machine that can do irc. We can meet on an IRC
channel and walk through the install step by step. Send me dates and
times that you can meet me in irc at irc.openprojects.net #debian.
I am usually in the irc channels M-F 6:00 - 12:00 EST. Or you can also get
help via this list although it might take longer than with IRC. Also other
people in #debian will be able to help out too. Good luck.
