hibernation mode does not work
[ Please CC any answers to me -- I am not subscribed to this list ] Hello, I could get the hibernation mode to work on my laptop here. I would be really glad if somebody could help me. It is an IBM Thinkpad i1400. Unfortunately IBM didn't change the version number for the Thinkpad so there are some different notebooks all called Thinkpad i1400. Mine is one of the first with a Celeron 300 CPU and 64 MB RAM. This should be sufficient to identify it. I have included an extract from my kernel configuration, lspci output, etc. Using a DOS bootfloppy and a program that came with the laptop I created a file where the RAM, etc is supposed to be written to when the notebook suspends to disk. This file is on a FAT partition which is 128MB large at the beginning of the hard-drive, just for this purpose. When typing 'apm -s' the laptop only falls in suspend to RAM mode, not suspend to disk. Using the key-combination (Fn-F12), the screen switches off and directly after that (may be a second) if turn on again. Anyone a clue what I might have done wrong? Hibernation with DMA enabled
Hello, I recently got hibernation to kind of work on my Thinkpad i1400 (type 1145-8GE if somebody cares). Unfortunately, after resuming I get errors like these if DMA if enabled: Mar 16 18:04:07 newton apmd[393]: Normal Resume Mar 16 18:04:07 newton apmd[393]: Battery: 100%, not charging (+0% over 0:04:49), ? to empty Mar 16 18:04:36 newton kernel: hda: timeout waiting for DMA Mar 16 18:04:36 newton kernel: ide_dmaproc: chipset supported ide_dma_timeout func only: 14 Mar 16 18:04:36 newton kernel: hda: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } Mar 16 18:04:36 newton kernel: hda: drive not ready for command [...] Sometimes, it is still possible to run 'hdparm -d0 /dev/hda' to disable DMA. After that, the laptop runs fine, except that the performance is poorer than with DMA. It is not possible though to re-enable DMA at a later of time though as the system will freeze until DMA is disabled again. I'm running sid with kernel-image-2.4.17-586tsc. I'd be thankful for any hints, Roland -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lspci -s 0: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Acer Laboratories Inc. [ALi] M1531 [Aladdin IV] (rev b3) 00:02.0 ISA bridge: Acer Laboratories Inc. No. Packages must use update-rc.d. Admins _can_ if they wish. -- Roland Bauerschmidt -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
