Bios upgrade

2004-04-25 Thread Johan Groth
Hi,
Does anyone here know where I can find a BIOS upgrade to my Dell
Inspiron 8600? It now has version A04 but I think A07 has been released.
I've tried searching on Dell's site but with little success.

Cheers,
Johan

Kernel 2.6.5 wont boot

2004-05-19 Thread Johan Groth
Hi all,
I'm trying to install the 2.6.5 kernel on my Dell Inspiron 8600 but
having troubles getting it to boot. It boots so far as loading the
PCcard cardmgr but after that it just hangs with the following message:

cardmgr[1072]: watching 1 socket
cs: IO port probe 0x0c00-0x0cff: clean.
cs: IO port probe 0x0800-0x08ff:
That is the last lines that are being displayed. So has anyone
experienced the same thing and has a solution or workaround. For me the
obvious workaround would be to remove cardmgr as I don't own any PCcards
but on the other hand, shouldn't this just work?

Regards,
Johan
