check out your config.opts in /etc/pcmcia. In the I/O range of that config
sits maybe another device. I had the same problem.

well, you've got 2 options.
1st option is you change it during the installation. You press alt-F2,
then you get a console, there you can edit that file in
/targetdir/etc/pcmcia (i'm not sure 'bout the name targetdir, but it's
someting in that direction).

2nd option is when your installation is complete you type after the lilo
prompt:
linux init=/bin/bash

Then the kernel starts up withoud starting init. Then you need to mount
your root filesystem read-writable by typing

mount -o remount,rw /

then you can edit /etc/pcmcia/config.opts

save your changes, mount the root filesystem readonly again:
mount -o remount,ro /
and reboot

It's possible that you get an error from e2fsck that your root wasnt
umounted correctly. I don't know how to avoid that message.

Try to boot up with a rescue disk. Then mount your harddisk and edit
/mount-point/etc/pcmcia/config.opts

There you'll find a line like:
include port 0x100-0x4ff, port 0x1000-0x17ff

my sound chip sits on 0x1000 and causes the hang. I'm not really sure if
the soundchip on your laptop sits on the same port. But i kicked out the
second port range. The lame becomes then:

include port 0x100-0x4ff

and everything works.

No errors in /var/log/lp-errs of in /var/log/lp-acct?

Check the file permissions for the spool directory's and the file's that

Hello everybody,

I've got a weird ssh problem here.

i can't login with ssh on [EMAIL PROTECTED] (host1=D577FF3DDF.kabel.telenet.be
or kcnet.dnsalias.org) ssh doesn't ask for a password.

note: sshd on host1 is running on port because the provider blocks
all ports <1024

This is the output from ssh -v:

Now, when i do
ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED] everything works ok, so does
ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]

At this point one should think there is something wrong with the user jgeraert.
But when i ssh from another server (i used the server at school)
ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED] works just fine like it should.

I have analyzed the packets with tcpdump.
(i ran sshd also on port 2223 so i could filter the right packets out)

I deleted them so i could test if they weren't currupted. But if i ssh to

i think the :1 stands for the x'th key in know_hosts, so it's the first key

It hangs up after a lng timeout ( 10 minutes or so). So i think it was
expecting some packets.

It couldn't be the client side permissions either, because with the same
local user i could ssh' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED]

yes but in when i looked multiple times, the send-q value didn't change. I don't
think there are always the same amount of packets in flight.

But now everything is fixed. Many thanks to my provider that made me go nuts
:-),
and thanks to everybody on the mailinglist that tried to help me out.

gnome-terminal fonts on sid

2002-10-13 Thread Jo Geraerts
Hello,

I'm unable to change the fonts of gnome-terminal. The current
font it uses is to big to fit multiple terminals on my desktop.

I can change the font in the profile editor, but the changes
don't take effect. When i take a loot in
~/.gconf/apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/%gconf.xml
i can see the font is changed, but gnome-terminal doesn't
seem to care about that font.

Anyone with the same problem and a solution?

It hangs up after a lng timeout ( 10 minutes or so). So i think it was
expecting some packets.

It couldn't be the client side permissions either, because with the same
local user i could ssh' to root@host1 and tester@host1.

yes but in when i looked multiple times, the send-q value didn't change. I don't
think there are always the same amount of packets in flight.

But now everything is fixed. Many thanks to my provider that made me go nuts :-),
and thanks to everybody on the mailinglist that tried to help me out.

gnome-terminal fonts on sid

2002-10-13 Thread Jo Geraerts
Hello,

I'm unable to change the fonts of gnome-terminal. The current
font it uses is to big to fit multiple terminals on my desktop.

I can change the font in the profile editor, but the changes
don't take effect. When i take a loot in
~/.gconf/apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/%gconf.xml
i can see the font is changed, but gnome-terminal doesn't
seem to care about that font.

Anyone with the same problem and a solution?
