atheros and pcmcia: card is not recognized
Hello, I bought a Netgear WG511U which is supported by the madwifi-driver. I created a file /etc/pcmcia/atheros.conf which is included by /etc/pcmcia/config: device "atheros" class "network" module "ath_pci" card "Atheros WiFi Card" manfid 0x0271, 0x0012 bind "atheros" But if I insert the card or restart the pcmcia-services, the card gets not recognized. When I load manually the ath_pci-module, the card works well. cardctl ident says: Socket 0: product info: "Atheros Communications, Inc.", "AR5001--", "Wireless LAN Reference Card", "00" manfid: 0x0271, 0x0012 function: 6 (network) Socket 1: no product info available any ideas? ESS ES1869 + X on Siemens Mobile 501 -> freeze
Hi, I tried to get sarge work on my Siemens Mobile 501, a laptop with a PII 266, 96MB RAM, 4 GB harddrive, ESS 1869-soundchip and Neomagic NM2160 graphics-chipset. After some troubles (the sb.o- module of bf24, 2.4.20-686 etc. only accept irq 7) I got the soundchip working, it plays fine with mpg123 at the console. But when I start X while mpg123 playing, the system freezes and can only be resetted by pulling the accu out and plugging the ac/dc-adaptor out. The same thing happens when I use the alsa-modules (which accept also irq 5) and when I try to use XMMS under X. On http://tuxmobil.de/siemens.html someone got this soundchip work on a 510 which seem to be nearly the same notebook. Does someone of you have some ideas or got a similar hardware constellation to work? I only found a user with the same problem after some googling. thanks bjo -- ICQ# 12220433 | http://www.thebjo.net | Was wissen die Armen, denen nie ein Blau aufging am Ziel ihres Herzens oder am Weg ihres Traums in der Nacht. If I set the sound-IRQ to 7 and lp0 to 5, the soundcard is detected correctly. But in both cases X freezes bjo -- ICQ# 12220433 | http://www.thebjo.net | Was wissen die Armen, denen nie ein Blau aufging am Ziel ihres Herzens oder am Weg ihres Traums in der Nacht. Some month ago I posted about trouble playing sound while running Xwindows with a ESS1869chip on a Siemens Mobile 501. Then someone told me that sound works with Mandrake 8.0. I found out that mdk 8.0 uses a 2.4.3 kernel and an old Xwindows. So I installed Xwindows 3.x under sarge and now sound works. Perhaps there is also a conflict between the xserver and your soundchip hth bjo -- ICQ# 12220433 | http://www.thebjo.net | "Und dann kommt am Bahnhof das Personal mit dem Wasserschlauch für das Bordrestaurant und dem RJ45-Kabel für den Newsserver?" | A.Krey in d.e.b.t+s | -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
