Problemi con /tmp/.ICE-unix e runlevel 2

Salve a tutti.
Ho dei problemi con il mio computer: non parte, si blocca prima che
init entri nel runlevel 2, cioe' subito dopo aver letto il file
/tmp/.ICE-unix (credo dipenda dal xfree86-common).
Da notare che questo me lo fa con i kernel 2.6 (2.6.8.1 e 2.6.9)  e
non con il 2.4.24. Oltretutto questo problema non e' avvenuto dopo una
nuova compilazione del kernel, infatti una volta fatto partire il
computer con il kernel 2.4.24 e fatto un reboot, allora risco a
lavorare con tutti i kernel a mia disposizione.
Spero di esser stato chiaro, ma non ne sono sicuro anche perche' non
conosco molto bene i processi di avvio.

I have an nc4000 with the 'Radeon IGP 340M'.  So I am a distant cousin
and not quite a close relative.

What exactly is the failure you are seeing?  It sounds to me by your
descript that you are trying to load the wrong module.
