I've just bought a Dell laptop inspiron 5100 for 970¤ with the delivery included. Everything's ok with a debian installed, but the modem. I just haven't configured the modem because I don't have any need for it. Hope this help ! > > __ > Do you Yahoo!? > Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at Yahoo! Re: Ati Mobility 9700
Thanks the configuration file: I put fglrx stuff away with success ! Nevertheless, when I switch from the consoles F[123456] to the X session I still get some troubles as a short frozen period with horizontal fog: does any know how to fix it ? (M 9700 seems not to be supported by Xfree 4.3) With the drm-trunk packages: glxinfo shows no DRI, and framrate of glxinfo falls from 440 (vesa) down to 180 frames. Same for tuxracer (both times software mode). :-( Radeon tells me that gfx adapters ati M 9500 and higher are still not supported. So I think using an "accelerated driver" is of no use, since it slows down my system. Vesa drivers work fine, even with multiple monitor support. I nobody has an idea how to get acc. graphics, I will continue using vesa drivers.
