That should be the same root cause as #1040178. Merging both.

The upload 6.4.4-1 to unstable should address this now.

Package: nfs-kernel-server
Version: 1:2.6.3-1

On my system I found a top level socket /fsid.sock which is created by
/lib/systemd/system/fsidd.service. This is obviously not the right
place for the socket, it should be put under /run.

In the upstream git repository I have found a patch[1] which I will try
and report back, if nobody beats me to it.

Are you able to reliably preoeduce the issue and can bisect it to the
introducing commit?

Can you retest please with recent kernel, 6.3.11-1 and ideally 6.4.4-1
as recently uploaded to unstable?

It is under our control when to not rename the packages,
to prevent this issue for production systems.

A binNMU for a perl transition might reach testing users,
but these should not be production systems.

When it takes 3 attempts in *stable-pu to get the kernel to build on all
release architectures, only the last one will ever reach *stable.

A policy question is that it might be a good idea to rename the packages
when publishing a regression update for a DSA, that's the only place I see
where this problem might otherwise reach production systems.

Bug#1041855: linux-image-6.4.0-1-amd64: IO wait regression

There is no such thing as a CPU having "high IO wait utilization".
When tasks are in I/O wait state, they are not using a CPU.

Unfortunately, for historical reasons Linux includes such tasks in the
load average and reports a CPU as being in I/O wait state when it's
idle and the last task running on it went into I/O wait state (at least
I think that's what the rule is).

So this bug is about an unwanted change in task/CPU state reporting,
not tasks suddenly using much more CPU time. For that reason, I don't
think it should "serious", i.e. a blocker for testing propagation.

Ben.
