Fwd: Status of IM applications in KDE
Hello list I forward here a message that I sent to the k...@mail.kde.org ML. Maybe someone else is interested in the topic and can provide useful information. Ciao Francesco - Forwarded message - Hello In June I read this message [1] and a statement about the status of KDE Telepathy got my attention: > Now this project is effectively dead. It hasn't seen any real > development for more than a year and basically is just on life > support ever since the core team had to leave the project because of > job and life constraints. The other factor is also the wide spread of > mobile phones and mobile IM clients; I didn't find any reply to the original message, so I'm now wondering if there is no more interest for this application and if it is destined to be abandoned. IIRC, and please correct me if I'm wrong, KDE Telepathy should have replaced Kopete but this doesn't seem to ever happened. Kopete seems to be still alive but maybe also this application is on "life support". So, is there a big plan for these applications or should we start thinking to use something else? Automatic login
Hi, I'm running debian testing, plasma version 5.6.5, KDE Frameworks 5.23.0. Nearly everything is working well except KDE's automatic login feature. I've tried to set automatic login in system settings > account details > user manager by ticking the automatic login box, but whenever I logout or reboot, I always have to enter my password. Is this a bug with plasma? Tim

Is this a bug with plasma? I have no idea what's that for, but to configure the automatic login you need to configure it in the corresponding display manager. If you are using sddm, you might be able to configure it from the system settings, Workspace Startup and Shutdown -> Login Screen (SDDM) -> Advanced -> Auto Login Happy hacking, -- Porque no respeta el orden natural en el que se leen las cosas ¿Por qué contestar al principio del mensaje es malo? That worked. I don't know why the other setting exits--it's confusing. Maybe it's a legacy setting for kdm? Tim
