Upgrade warning: KDE/Plasma 5 stuff broken
Hi! With todays update all Qt5 based KDE/Plasma 5 stuff crashes for me. It may be due to a party upgraded qt5. If you want to use your Plasma 5 desktop, better do not upgrade at the moment. Thanks, -- Martin

Yes, you are right libqt5x11extras5 5.5.0-1 is still in experimental, so if you run pure unstable you may not be affected. And well the crash may be a totally different reason as well. I will now do a full dist-upgrade to see whether its any kind of transitional issue with the g++ 5.5 ABI transition. So bye, bye kmail for a short time. kdepim-runtime already is installed. So there may only be a reworked kdepim package missing in order to have it installable in gcc 5 sid. Debian Qt/KDE team already works on this. So whatever the reason is, be cautious with an upgrade and probably wait a bit longer if you depend on kdepim. (may be my last mail from KMail, but I bet Trojita may still work) Thanks -- Martin

While I am mostly running testing atm, I did have an upgrade yesterday which made me unable to open one of my wallets (I think I have both a kde4 and kf5 wallet). When I downgraded kde-runtime (and kde-runtime-data and plasma-scriptengine- javascript) to version 4:14.12.3-1 from http://snapshot.debian.org/package/kde-runtime/4%3A14.12.3-1/#kde-runtime_4:3a:14.12.3-1 both my wallets started to work again. Dunno if it helps you in any way, but thought I shared my problem wrt kwallet. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
Re: Upgrade warning: KDE/Plasma 5 stuff broken
Andy, So are you saying to let it uninstall all of that stuff? This is my wife's machine, so I really can't afford to have KDE broken on it. My machine is running pc-bsd and is quite happy. No, no, no,no... apt would have uninstalled all those packages - until yesterday. Then the situation got way better (from a package-removal-upgrade perspective ;-) ), so I decided to give it a try. akonadiconsole, for example, was *not* removed during the dist-upgrade. But I think this only worked, because I still have some packages installed from experimental... Andy BTW: running sid is already quite a risk during such transformations - but running it your wife's machine is more than brave ;-)

So for now just make sure that you don´t mix these Qt versions if you use Sid/Experimental combination. And stay away from dist-upgrade unless you can let go of KDEPIM including KMail, as well as Amarok and Digikam. Debian Qt/KDE team already works on KDEPIM. I can do without Amarok and Digikam for a while. And well Trojita works as well :) so I have mail. Thanks, Martin
black icons after kde upgrade
Hi all. After upgrade to kde5 my desktop doesn't display icons anymore All icons became black (see the attachments for details or click https://www.dropbox.com/s/gyr3bzuu4mhyfyr/snapshot1_desktop_kde_5_with_dolphin.png?dl=0 and https://www.dropbox.com/s/1azehqpu2evry5j/snapshot1_desktop_kde_5.png?dl=0 ) I use the debian testing release , my video driver is nouveau and my graphics card is an old nvidia FX5200. Does anyone has an idea why this happed? Thanks !

For those confused, "nouveau" is "new". http://i.imgur.com/IdxMUHW.png http://i.imgur.com/1P2ZldO.png Both pictures, respectively. Sorry I can't help, just wanted to make it convenient for you guys. OP, is your background also black, like the rest?
