Kopete upgrade loses OTR?
I just upgraded both my laptop and my desktop this week, and kopete was upgraded from 4:4.8.4-1+b1 to 4:4.8.4-2: ii kopete4:4.8.4-2 amd64instant messaging and chat application ii libkopete44:4.8.4-2 amd64main Kopete library In 4.8.4-1+b1, off the record messaging worked. With 4.8.4-2, it is missing. And the otr packages installed on both machines are ii libotr2 3.2.1-1 amd64Off-the-Record Messaging library ii libotr5 4.0.0-2.2 amd64Off-the-Record Messaging library yet, there is no otr in the plugins list, nor, I notice, is there an openpgp plugin. Have these protocols been deprecated, or is there some step or package that I am missing? Thanks, --b

As also written in changelog[1], the OTR plugin of kopete does not compile with libotr 4.x (and the old libotr is planned to away soon), and even upstream there are no fixes for that. Considering the API changed a lot, porting it was not an option since it required an amount of work. I'm not sure what you refer wrt an "opnepgp plugin". As far as I can tell it's not: http://community.kde.org/KTp/RepeatedDiscussions/OTR TL;DR: they don't consider OTR worthwhile because "trust your service provider". Anyway, looks like KDE is without an OTR enabled chat client now. Missing printer module?
I just bought a network printer, and while trying to configure it, I opened the System Settings, and when I clicked on Printer Config, I got a message: The service 'Printer Configuration' does not provide an interface 'KCModule' with keyword 'system-config-printer-kde/system-config-printer-kde.py' The factory does not support creating components of the specified type. Possible reasons: * An error occurred during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control module * You have old third party modules lying around. I tried both a dpkg-reconfigure and an apt-get install --reinstall on the system-config-printer-kde, both of which completed without errors. What am I missing? Thanks, --b

Program crashes when right-clicking in Toolbar of Kate
Hi, I'm using a fresh install of Debian 7.0 Wheezy Stable 64-bit (KDE CD), and I notice that quite often (but not all the time), when I right-click on the toolbar in Kate, it instantly crashes, whereas if I use the Settings menu then I can edit the toolbar fine. This bug has been found by many people in the past (in fact there are similar bugs posted for several years now), and it seems to effect several important KDE programs besides Kate. eg: "https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305003"; It has supposedly been fixed in the next version of KDE (4.8.5), but Debian Stable is using 4.8.4 so this bug still exists in Debian Stable. I'm new to Debian, so I'm not sure if me & all users for the next 2 years are expected to obtain Kate from Debian Testing, or if Debian Stable should be fixed? Re: Missing printer module?
That looks like my problem. Which begs the question. When can we expect KDE 4.10 (or are they waiting for 4.11) to appear in sid? The interesting thing is that the printer config (and the printer) still works on my wife's sid machine. The difference is that I have been upgrading mine fairly regularly, and hers has not been upgraded since before the wheezy release. --b On Fri, Jun 14, 2013 at 5:26 PM, Dimitris Papadakis wrote: > On Friday 14 Jun 2013 20:57:47 Brad Alexander wrote: > > What am I missing? > > Hey, check bug report #705467 > > > -- > To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org > with a subject of "unsubscribe".
