libgtk2.0-0 and flashplugin-nonfree
From one week ago, the libgtk2.0-0 upgrade (Sid) freezes Konqueror when this browser opens Flash contents: nspluginviewer goes to 100% CPU consumption. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=440165 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=443399 The solution was downgrade libgtk2.0-0: $ sudo aptitude install libgtk2.0-0=2.10.13-1 but now is not possible this downgrade because GIMP and Iceweasel needs the last libgtk2.0-0. Any workaround? Now I use Gnash more than ever, I like Gnash... but I can't view a lot of Flash contents :( Thanks! Regards, -- Benjamí http://blog.bitassa.cat .
Unmet Dependencies
Greetings -- This is my first post to debian-kde, and it is regarding a problem that is probably due to my own ignorance, so please excuse me if that's the case. The problem in its essence is that when I try to install kde using 'apt-get install kde' I get an error message stating, 'the following packages have unmet dependencies: kde: Depends: kdeutils (>= 4:3.4.3) but it is not going to be installed E: Broken packages'. When I attempt to follow the dependency chain, I end up at libsnmp10, about which apt reports 'E: Package libsnmp10 has no installation candidate'. My sources.list file has only one entry: 'deb http://debian.uchicago.edu/debian unstable main contrib non-free' I'm really just trying to figure out if I've got something wrong with my setup or if there is a problem with the kde packages in the unstable repository. In other words, should I be fixing something or just waiting patiently for the maintainers to repair the broken packages? I am running a very minimal installation at the moment. I got to this point by installing using only the netisnt CD for stable amd64 (debian-40r1-amd64-netinst.iso), after which point I changed my sources.list to point to unstable repositories on the net and did an update/dist-upgrade to where I am now (lenny/sid 2.6.22-2-amd64). I hope I've provided enough information, but please let me know if I've omitted something pertinent. switching users kills first user
For at least the last month, sometimes when I switch user (as in "switch user" from the KDE menu) to another user's session, the session for the first user is killed. This has happened with 2 or 3 user sessions. It has happened when switching from the first session (vt7) or the 2nd (vt8). The session killed usually is using a lot of memory, but there is still quite a bit of virtual memory left. Is anyone else seeing this? Any suggestions for what to do? I don't even know what package I would file a bug against--if anyone knows, I'd love to hear it. Thanks. Ross Currently, kdebase 4:3.5.7-4 linux-image-2.6.18-5-686 2.6.18.dfsg.1-13etch3 xorg 1:7.2-5 nvidia-glx 1.0.8776-4 nvidia-kernel-2.6.18-5-686 1.0.8776+6etch1 The free nvidia driver does not work with my card, a GeForce 6600 LE. There have been some point releases of the kernel since the nvidia stuff; I'm not sure if it needs to be updated to match the kernel exactly or not. I've founding nothing useful in the logs, just Sep 27 19:34:02 corn kdm[7491]: X server for display :0 terminated unexpectedly -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
