Kopete fixes forthcoming?

2004-07-09 Thread Doug Holland
After googling around, I found that there indeed exists a fix for Kopete to
make it work with Yahoo! after they changed their protocol. For that matter,
ICQ also stopped working for me, and there may be a fix for that in Kopete's
CVS repo.

Is a fixed Kopete going into Debian any time soon? I would really appreciate
it.

URLs Being Mutilated

2004-07-09 Thread
(This question begins with a Windows focus and moves to Linux on a Debian
unstable box. Bear with me.)

I am sending URLs of web pages to my home address via File->Send-Link By Email
in Internet Explorer. Before sending, the email contains the URL of the web
page as a clickable object.

When the mail is received by KMail, the URL is no longer clickable. I must
open the URL in an editor such as Kate to view the web address, copy it, and
paste it into Konqueror.

Can someone help me streamline this process?

Bob

Are you not getting any "SipClient: Recieve ..." messages?

This makes me think your PC doesn't have a properly configured hostname
and DNS setup. Check these out using the hostname command and the
--fqdn option.

I have run into that occasionally, especially with very long URLs that
wrap. Try enclosing the entire URL in angle brackets before you hit
Send.

KDE Styles broken in sarge

2004-07-09 Thread Ian Eure
I just updated my sarge desktop today, and I can only select the built-in QT
styles now. (CDE, MS Windows 9x, Motif, Motif Plus, Platinum & SGI)

There were some QT updates when I updated this morning, but I didn't pay too
much attention to what got replaced.

I've purged my system of old (non- c102) QT packages, and reinstalled
kdelibs4. When I ldd the KDE styles (in /usr/lib/kde3/plugins/styles), I
don't see any broken library dependencies.

Anyone else seeing this? Anyone know how to fix it?

Klipper hangs

2004-07-09 Thread Steve Corwin
When I try to pop up klipper it hangs. Not only that, but if I invoke
it with a keystroke it blocks all keyboard input until I use the mouse
to start a process manager and kill it. If I use the mouse to invoke it
then all mouse input is blocked and most keyboard input too, but I can
get to a different virtual console and kill it from there.

This is happening on two different machines, both updated to KDE 3.2.2
and both running sarge (testing). The only bug I found that seems
relevant is 83659, "Prevent empty clipboard" option makes klipper hang.
However I turned that option off and klipper still hangs.

Has anybody else seen this?
Thanks,
Steve

I'm seeing this problem too -- just started after I updated today.

Clock Applet Again

2004-07-09 Thread Bruce Park
Hey guys,
Just wondering, did everyone see my mail last week about the problem with clock
applet that I described? Basically, I have it set to digital mode and when I check
the check box for LCD, I get a shadowed look but the background is still the same as
the taskbar.

I know it's a tiny problem but I was wondering if this is a bug within KDE.
Thanks.

When is the K-Menu going to lose the Debian submenu?

2004-07-09 Thread Doug Holland
Warning: this is a rant. Chances are many of you will agree with this. Feel
free to jump in.

This is my biggest gripe about an otherwise great set of KDE packages.

WHY is there a Debian submenu in the K Menu?

Why are half of the utilities in K->Utilities, and the other half in
K->Debian->Apps->Tools?

Why is there not a unified set of menus?

The current arrangement of the K menu is incredibly retarded.

FIX THIS, PLEASE! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! FIX IT SOON!

Don't leave the menus like this for another year!
