confused about what to depend on ;(
Now I'm *really* confused. I wrote a profiler (written in C, linked against Sun JDK1.4.1, to compile it, it requires jvmpi.h as distributed by suns jdk) I guess not many jdks provide the facility to use a profiler. Should my package depend on sun jdk? what about ibms package? Should I try and work out which one of the jdks it can link against and depend on any one of them? Help, please ;-) Conrad -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
j2sdk-1.4.x for woody
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I read and saw about the j2sdk-1.4 .deb packages ad blackdown.org. However and for no obvious reason, the packages are only their sid tree and the apt tells me that they require libc 2.3.1. Well, I know that binary java package from java.sun.com does not rquire this libc version. However, sun has a really sick idea, where files should be in the /usr or /usr/local tree :-( So I would like to choose the blackdown packages with switching to unstable. And I do not really want to use any force parameters. Any ideas? Why does packge that does not really _depend_ on that version of libc has it in its Depends: field? I also read about and tried the program mpkg-j2sdk but it has a major drawback: I also packages all the doc files and does not rease the duplicate binary files. Why does bin and jre/bin contains files, that are exactly the same? This makes the installed size A LOT bigger than necessary. Any good ideas? You can either depend on only j2sdk1.4 or check the ibm variant. I assume that your package is not built primary by java classes so the java policy is not very suitable. On the other hand some java/non-free issues applies here. The problem is that if you build-depend on j2sdk it will never be put into testing. The reason is that the autobuilders can not fullfill that dependency. > Help, please ;-) Was this help enough?
