I would expect to see better speeds than that from a single S-ATA disk! For several years people have been reporting better speeds than that from 3ware controllers (although almost no-one tested with as few as three disks). But hdparm is a poor benchmark tool. A while ago we startet changing from GDT SCSI-RAID to 3ware SCSI/IDE. We have models from 2 to 12 channel in use, both ATA and SATA and are quite happy with them. Never caused any troubles so far. Some of the larger servers use the 12 channel model. None of them did support a >2TB RAID-sets so we had to setup two single disk-sets. But 3ware should have fixed that by now. RAID5 Performance is acceptable but not superior. RAID0/1/10 is fine. I haven't checked the new caching models since caching without battery backup and ECC doesn't look too reliable to me. Still performance might be tempting. Cheers, Marcel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE
Hello We have updated our server to PHP 4.3.8 and MySQL 4.0.2. Some of our clients run a shop software that need 'LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE' to store its data to MySQL. MySQL itself supports the command. I can run it from mysql-client. That works. I have read about the fix on php.net (http://www.php.net/ChangeLog-4.php / http://bugs.php.net/28632). Until now, i couldn't find a solution to get it work. Is there way to get it work? Regards Dani -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? UML troubles
Hi! Maybe someone has tried UML kernel on grsec machine? I took that Debian precompiled UML kernel, run it with "linux root=/servers/moon " (that /servers/moon is one of my production servers' ext2 partition image), but UML says: ... mconsole (version 2) initialized on /root/.uml/N7Jm6p/mconsole unable to open root_fs for validation Initializing stdio console driver NET4: Linux TCP/IP 1.0 for NET4.0 And that's all... no further messages, nothing. The modules required for this kernel has been put inside the image. The host kernel is with grsec patches,. and it tells in /var/log something about resource overstep: Aug 16 17:13:51 localhost kernel: grsec: attempted resource overstep by requesting 494927872 for RLIMIT_STACK against limit 8388608 by /usr/bin/linux[linux:29530] uid/euid:0/0 gid/egid:0/0, parent /usr/bin/linux[linux:2566] uid/euid:0/0 gid/egid:0/0 Any ideas?
