Please don't do this just yet. The changes have already been commited
to Tiger's CVS and we are working in a new release of the package
which will fix this (and other) bugs.

If there are new translations please submit them as bugs and we will
take care of them in the next package release (due soon)

Thanks

Announce of an upcoming upload for the tiger package

2010-02-13 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear maintainer of tiger and Debian translators,

Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the tiger Debian
package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
update in the BTS.

The package maintainer and I agreed for a translation update round. At
the end of this period, I will send him|her a full patch so that
an l10n upload can happen.
The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail.

The package is currently translated to:
cs da de es fr ja nl pt pt_BR ru sv vi

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: cs da nl pt pt_BR ru vi

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations
for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report
against the tiger package so I can incorporate them in the build.

The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Friday, February 19,
2010. If you
are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS.

The POT file is attached to this mail.

Schedule:

Thursday, February 11, 2010 : send the first intent to NMU notice to
 the package maintainer.
Saturday, February 13, 2010 : send this notice
Friday, February 19, 2010 : (midnight) deadline for receiving
translation updates
Saturday, February 20, 2010 : Send a summary to the maintainer.
Maintainer uploads
 when possible.

Thanks for your efforts and time.

I just issued a "soft" call for translations that states that you plan
to upload soon. The call for translations gives a 7 days delay to send
new/fixed translations.

I'll send a summary when the delay is over and will then sswitch the
package to "watch" status..tracking down that an upload really
happens..:-)

Well, there has been an upload today..:-)

So, we maybe haven't that agreed..:-)

Hopefully, if some translators send updates or new translations, there
will be another upload...

Dear Debian I18N people,

I would like to know if some of you would be interested in translating
fts.

fts already includes de.po fr.po pt.po ru.po.
So do not translate it to these languages (the translators will be
contacted separately).

Let's see if there is a solution to this issue.
What about re-using the exsiting translation and review mechanisms in place
for debconf and partially programm translations?

Let us discus package translations on the mailing list debian-l10n-german and
use DDTSS or DDTP for simple and easy upload.

Maybe the number of users having access to DDTSS and DDTP shal be more
restrictive.
In addition upgrading DDTSS to store some more audit information shall be no
big issue - just a stupid assumption - but lets have a look.
(Where is the code? ;-) )

Just my two cents - take care,

Tom

This is how the Brazilian team is working.

That needs someone to act as coordinator (faw is doing that for
Brazilian) and be the one who validates the work and distributes it.

Of course, it needs in some way to "close" things in the DDTSS so that
nobody is doing "parasite" translation work.
