[Bug libstdc++/38732] [4.4 Regression] Openoffice.org segfaults with runtime libs built from GCC trunk

2009-01-08 Thread stephan dot bergmann at sun dot com

--- Comment #20 from stephan dot bergmann at sun dot com 2009-01-08 08:31

re <#c17>:

"prepended member can change the negative offset of the other struct members":
see "the four bytes of referenceCount cancel out a previous four padding bytes
just before the unwindHeader member coming later in the struct" (<#c12>)

"if they ever use std::current_exception(), they *will* have to change the code
to cope with dependent exceptions": can you please elaborate (by direct mail,
if considered more appropriate)

Package: openoffice.org-core
Version: 1:2.4.1-11
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

OOo (either writer or impress or...) crashes at startup (while showing splash
screen) because of a segmentation fault.
The installation of OOo is fresh, without any extension.
Deleting ~/.openoffice.org2 doesn't fix the problem.
Only writer (and its dependencies) is installed.

Bug#511200: g++-4.3: doesn't work destructor of local object

2009-01-08 Thread Dmitri Paduchikh
Package: g++-4.3
Version: 4.3.2-1.1
Severity: normal

In the example below destructor of local object doesn't work (there is no
output from it). However, if the call of f() is wrapped into

  try {
f();
  }
  catch (...) {
throw;
  }

then the destructor produces expected output. Here is the result of running
the program without catch(...):

$ g++ -o test -DNO_TRY -Wall -Wextra -pedantic test.cc
$ ./test
constructing myt...@0xff7fd0ff
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'MyError'
Aborted

And now with handler:

$ g++ -o test -Wall -Wextra -pedantic test.cc
$ ./test
constructing myt...@0xff93ca1f
destructing myt...@0xff93ca1f
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'MyError'
Aborted

The program (test.cc):

#include
using namespace std;

class MyTest {
public:
  MyTest() { cout << "constructing MyTest@" << this << '\n'; cout.flush(); }
  ~MyTest() { cout << "destructing MyTest@" << this << '\n'; cout.flush(); }
};

class MyError {};

void f()
{
  MyTest m;
  throw MyError();
}

int main()
{
#ifdef NO_TRY
  f();
#else
  try {
f();
  }
  catch (...) {
throw;
  }
#endif
}

now in unstable, built on all archs, afaics no regressions in the testsuite.
please consider this version for testing.

 No regressions found in the testsuite on i386 and powerpc. The
 alternative could be an update to the current gcc-4_3-branch as found
 in experimental; no regressions in the testsuite, the code in this
 state gets more attention upstream, and I didn't see any regressions

gcc-4.3 and gcj-4.3 already migrated, gnat-4.3 is already unblocked

Cheers

proposing gcc-4.1 (4.1.2-24) for testing

2009-01-08 Thread Matthias Klose
please consider gcc-4.1 (4.1.2-24) for testing. all changes except the update on
the gcc-4_1-branch do not affect Debian unstable. the --with-tune=generic change
wasn't really necessary, it was already the default. no regressions seen in the
gcc testsuite.

  Matthias

 gcc-4.1  (4.1.2-24) unstable; urgency=low

   * Update to the gcc-4_1-branch 20081201.
 - Fix PR target/38287 (sparc, wrong code). Addresses: #506713.
   * Do not build-depend on autogen, if the package is not installable.
   * Apply arm-unbreak-eabi-armv4t patch only for Debian builds.
   * Configure with --with-tune=generic for x86 targets.
