Nothing.

hint: source code version != ABI version

No rudeness intended; it can be confusing.

This is likely the wrong place. If you want to publish it, you should
best release it as a package of its own, or contribute it to some
existing library package, such as Boost.

Notice that the C++ standard library already contains algorithms such
as for_each which also allow convenient iteration over a container.

Look at the 3.2 documentation...

Use `-ffloat-store' for such programs, after
modifying them to store all pertinent intermediate computations
 into variables.

Do you get the expected results if you do this?

Bug#176064: gcc-3.2: Provide a way to build cpu-specific versions

2003-01-09 Thread Daniel Schepler
Package: gcc-3.2
Version: 1:3.2.2-0pre3
Severity: wishlist

I've been rebuilding all my packages with Athlon optimization, using a
combination of pbuilder and pentium-builder. Unfortunately, because
of the way this works, gcc-3.2 isn't compiled with Athlon
optimization. It would be nice to have a way to get this to happen.

Probably the easiest way (for me) would be to recognize the
DEBIAN_BUILDARCH environment variable, which is also what
pentium-builder uses. If the variable were set, stage 2 and above,
along with the libraries, would be built using
"-O... -march=$DEBIAN_BUILDARCH -mcpu=$DEBIAN_BUILDARCH".

I noticed a local buildd had hung while building gcc-3.2; I checked
why and it turns out the evil logwatch.sh script hadn't died even tho
the build had finished. The script is fairly clearly broken (you trap
the SIGHUP you send it but then don't exit from the function you trap
into?) and the only reason it finished at all on the Debian buildds is
that sbuild's inactivity timeout kicked in[1]. Doh.

Bug#176081: libgcj.so.3.0.0 has non-PIC static code linked in

2003-01-09 Thread Jack Howarth
Package: libgcj3
Version: 3.2.2-0pre3

On debian ppc sid, the /usr/lib/libgcj.so.3.0.0 shared lib
appears to have non-PIC static lib code linked in which is
a violation of debian policy. This probably is a upstream
(non-debian) problem as I see this on the same lib from
Franz Sirl's redhat based gcc 3.2.2 ppc rpms.

This was determined with...

objdump --all-headers /lib/libc-2.3.1.so | grep TEXTREL
  TEXTREL 0x0

Bug#176081: libgcj.so.3.0.0 has non-PIC static code linked in

2003-01-09 Thread Jack Howarth
   Typo...the test was...

objdump --all-headers /usr/lib/libgcj.so.3.0.0 | grep TEXTREL
  TEXTREL 0x0

...of course.
