I'll try to have a look this weekend.

you may want to take gnat and gnat-doc, as these are unmaintained. You
are welcome to take care of gnat-3.2 and gnat-3.2-doc. For the latter
two you would have to send patches to the gcc-3.2 source package.

gcc-3.2 override disparity

2002-08-30 Thread Debian Installer
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the
override file for the following file(s):

libg2c0_3.2.1-0pre1_i386.deb: section is overridden from libs to devel.

Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think
the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package
so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the
override is incorrect then please reply to this mail and explain why.

[NB: this is an automatically generated mail; if you replied to one
like it before and have not received a response yet, please ignore
this mail. Your reply needs to be processed by a human and will be in
due course, but until then the installer will send these automated

Package: libstdc++5-dev
Version: n/a

Hi,

there is a versioned dependency on libc6-dev, but we have libc0.3-dev
in Debian GNU/Hurd. This breaks installation of the package (we provide
libc6-dev, but that doesn't work with versioned dependencies).

Thanks,
Marcus

This is not correct. The Debian version hasn't passed *any*
validation tests.

It is the latest public ACT release.

The latest FSF release (and the most stable one, I believe, both GCC
3.1 and 3.1.1 are very similar to it) is GCC 3.2.

GNAT 3.14p and GNAT in GCC 3.2 are not ABI compatible. GNAT in GCC
3.2 is not complete, ASIS and GLADE are missing. GNAT in GCC 3.2 has
bugs which prevents it from compiling other packages which are in
Debian (e.g. the currently packaged version of GtkAda).

I don't think packaging libraries for GNAT in GCC 3.2 is worth the
trouble. Developers who want to use GCC 3 technology should upgrade
to GCC 3.3, which contains an updated version of GNAT, and I've read
reports that this version is more close to being usable than previous
GCC 3 versions (but still no comparison to GNAT 3.14p).

There is no indication on the timeframe in which GCC 3 GNAT will be
complete (ASIS, GLADE and Florist support), GDB support will arrive in
the GDB CVS, and the many open bugs in the GCC BTS will be even looked
at by the maintainers.

I don't get it. The debian package is built from the ACT
  source.

  Yes.

The most stable one? There are many annoying bugs IIRC.

Yes, but it links against a different libc version. This *can* make a
difference, especially in tasking. The bootstrapping process can
introduce additional errors, too.

In addition, there were known bugs in the pthreads-based tasking
support which prevents successful conpletation of all ACATS tests.
AFAIK, these problems remain in 3.14p, and only the run-time library
based FSU Threads was ever validated.

There aren't any other FSF releases (besides 3.1 and 3.1.1), so it is
the most stable one. ;-)

Sure. But the source was at least very well tested. This is
  all we can guarantee.

  Ah OK.

The problem is that ACT people have never really told about what
they plan for the FSF release.

arm-tune.dpatch

2002-08-30 Thread Philip Blundell
Hmm, where did this change come from?

  * debian/patches/arm-tune.dpatch: Increase stack limit for configure.

It seems to be breaking the build: I can't find any version of autoconf
that actually understands the -L option. Matthias, any idea?
