It's not needed for the binary-arch target. Another idea would be the
inclusion of pregenerated docs in the source.

gcc-3.0 override disparity

2001-06-19 Thread Debian Installer
There are disparities between your recently installed upload and the
override file for the following file(s):

libstdc++3_3.0-1_i386.deb: priority is overridden from required to standard.

Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think
the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package
so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the
override is incorrect then please reply to this mail and explain why.

Bug#101534: README.FIRST says gcc-3.0 is a development snapshot

2001-06-19 Thread André Dahlqvist
Package: gcc-3.0-base
Version: 1:3.0-1
Severity: minor

The info in /usr/share/doc/gcc-3.0-base/README.FIRST does not longer
apply now that gcc-3.0 has been released as stable. It can safely be
removed.

Taking a simple Java program as follows:

---8<---
public class Hello {
public static void main(String[] argv) {
System.out.println("Hello, World!");
}
}
---8<---

And trying to compile it with gcj-3.0 gives the following error:

---8<---
evan priss:~/tmp$ gcj-3.0 --main=Hello -o Hello Hello.java
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lgcc_s
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
---8<---

I thought there might be something wrong with the entire compilation
system, so I tried to compile a short C file:

---8<---
#include

int main(int argc, char** argv) {
  printf("Hello, World!\n");
  return 0;
}
---8<---

...which worked fine:

---8<---
evan priss:~/tmp$ gcc-3.0 -o hello hello.c
evan priss:~/tmp$ ./hello
Hello, World!
---8<---

By the way, there -is- a libgcc_s available:

---8<---
evan priss:~/tmp$ find /usr/lib -name *libgcc_s*
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-linux/3.0/libgcc_s.so
---8<---

Suggestions and/or a fix would be lovely. B-)

~ESP

Package: gcc-3.0
Version: 1:3.0-0pre010613
Severity: normal

I don't know whether this is a bug in gcc-3.0 or libgcc0:

lrwxrwxrwx1 root root   18 Jun 15 20:16
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-linux/3.0/libgcc_s.so -> /lib/libgcc_s.so.0

But there is no /lib/libgcc_s.so.0 file; instead, there is:

-rw-r--r--1 root root27036 Jun 13 21:04 /lib/libgcc_s.so.1

As a result of this, shared libraries don't get built properly. For
instance, when building libogg:

gcc-3.0 -shared  framing.lo bitwise.lo   -Wl,-soname -Wl,libogg.so.0 -o
.libs/libogg.so.0.1.0
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lgcc_s
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

Bug#100696: lowering severity of gcc-3.0 m68k bug

2001-06-19 Thread Matthias Klose
severity 100696 normal
retitle 100696 [m68k] gcc-3.0 doesn't bootstrap on m68k-linux
thanks

Lowering the severity of this report. It's "m68k" only and m68k isn't
yet supported by gcc-3.0. AFAIK the severity of the report would
prohibit the migration of gcc-3.0 to testing.

PS: I did send this to control@ before ...

Bug#101557: [HTML docs] danglink link

2001-06-19 Thread Eray Ozkural \(exa\)
Package: libstdc++3-doc
Version: 1:3.0-0pre010609
Severity: normal

file:/usr/share/doc/gcc-3.0-base/libstdc++/html_user/index.html

Link called "The GNU stdc++ library version 3" points to a file
in gcc-3.0-base's doc dir, which doesn't exist. It seems that
the correct URI should be
file:/usr/share/doc/gcc-3.0-base/libstdc++/html/documentation.html

Thanks,
