No, not really. My point is: "*some* of the people whose packages have
binary stanzas in debian/control which contain the correct set of binary
dependencies at the beginning of the build, are unhappy about having to
write said set twice".

I don't think nobody is suggesting inferring Build-Dependencies from
Depends field.

IPC::Run and IPC::Run3 are both very upset when you try to use them

The module adds safe-guarding code when you call IPC::Run or IPC::Run3
under such environment to make sure it always works.

Thanks, we've got a few people on the list now but another DD (or
prospective DD) would be very handy, particularly as backup for doing

Hi all,

this seems neverending :( Bio::Graphics, that I ITPed, updated its
dependancies, and now recommends Bio::SCF, so here is one more ITP. The package
should be straightforward, however it depdends on Stadens package's libread,
whose package is not yet ready because we have to finalize the renaming of this
library (in coordination with Upstream and Fedora), because it is such a
generic name…

Have a nice day,

 The Perl SCF (Standard Chromatogram Format) module allows you to read and
 update (in a restricted way) SCF chromatographic sequence files. It is an
 interface to Roger Staden's io-lib. It has both tied hash and an
 object-oriented interfaces. It provides the ability to read fields from SCF
 files and limited ability to modify them and write them back.

Bug#513305: ITP: unscd -- Micro Name Server Caching Daemon

Owner: d...@debian.org

 * Package Name: unscd
 * Version : 0.36
 * Upstream: Denys Vlasenko
 * URL : http://busybox.net/~vda/unscd/
 * License : GPL-2

Description: Micro Name Service Caching Daemon
 A daemon which handles passwd, group and host lookups for running
 programs and caches the results for the next query. You only need
 this package if you are using slow Name Services like LDAP, NIS or
 NIS+.
 .
 This particular NSCD is a complete rewrite of the GNU glibc nscd
 which is a single threaded server process which offloads all NSS
 lookups to worker children; cache hits are handled by pthe parent,
 and only cache misses start worker children, making the parent immune
 to resource leaks, hangs, and crashes in NSS libraries.
 .
 It should mostly be a drop-in replacement for existing installs using
 nscd.

Hi Adeodato and everybody,

I do not know who is unhappy; for me, it is more like it is itchy :)

At the beginning I thought that skipping the depandancy needed for build-time
tests was a logical extension, but now we all agree that it is useless. For the
factorisation of the package list between Depends and Build-Depends, I will
solve this in my packages with a dpkg substvar, such as
$(depends:libfoo-bar-perl} for Foo::Bar. It seems that it is trivial to pass
through dh_gencontrol.
