US - Non US difference.
Hi, Let me introduce myself as the founder of Linux.Mejokj.com - a site which distributes cheap linux cds. I have got a questions for which I was not able to find the exact answer from any where else(even from debian.org). Guess that this is the best place to ask it. 1. What's the exact difference between Us & Non_us cd ? 2. Does Non_Us cds contains all the packages that US one has? When I asked someone else , the reply I got was: --- Selling/distributing a US CD here in India is (and always was) perfectly legal, but was pointless, since the non-US CD had all the same stuff, plus more. There are also US copyright/patent issues, but the consequences of these issues are the same: non-US CD = US CD + extra goodies - Is the above statement true?? 3. I have both the cds with me now. Is it legal to distribute both in India? Regards, Mejo http://linux.mejokj.com -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#208736: corrupt file in Debian
Steve Powell wrote: I've downloaded the disk 1 iso for Debian 3.0r2 from two different places and burnt CD's 3 different times and I always get that same error during install -- file: /instmnt/pool/main/b/bash/bash_2.05a-11_i386.deb was corrupt Did u check the md5sum? if you are on a linux machine, type - md5sum filename.iso and check the output with that's on the debian website. I have read it 100 times and tried to contact all the people I could think of helping me. This is what I send earlier to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi, I am the maintainer of http://linux.mejokj.com which distributes cds of Linux distributions -INCLUDING DEBIAN, of course and Open Source Software in India. This is my third mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] asking them if it is possible to list me in the Debian cd vendors page( http://www.debian.org/CD/vendors/ ) and I haven't got a response from them yet. Infact, there's just one cd vendor in India listed and they are selling Hurd based cds only, which is difficult to install for an average user. I tried sending a mail to them but it bounced back. Thanks and regards, Mejo This is the information required to get listed in the Debian Cd vendor page( http://www.debian.org/CD/vendors/adding ) : * Vendor Name - Linux.Mejokj.com * URL of Vendor - http://linux.mejokj.com * Whether or not you donate some of the sale to Debian- I would like to do that, but I don't know to. * Type of CDs sold (see at the top of page for details) - Official Debian 1386 binary * Country you are in - India * Do you ship orders overseas ("yes", "no", "some areas" or "within Europe")- Yes * URL of a web page that has information about your Debian CDs - http://linux.mejokj.com/debian.htm * Email address for sales enquiries - [EMAIL PROTECTED] * What architectures your CDs are for. - i386 only. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". I know that it would be a good idea to have some "backup" for Craig so others might be able to help in cases where he is absent (might be in case of vacation, illness or whatever), and I guess eventually it will happen. Thanks for the reply. I noticed this problem earlier. There should always be a backup if one of you cannot do your job, it shouldn't be stuck up. Some of the links of cd vendors page are broken and some emails bounce back. I think that the cd vendors page is completely unmaintained(because of any above mentioned problems). If your policy allows, I can maintain the page by checking the links regularly, and adding new vendors as required. Please let me know how else I can help Debian.
