We're somewhat overdue for both 8.2 and 7.9 now (in that order). Some
potential September dates:
5/6th - okay for me
12/13th - the 12th doesn't work for me until at least mid-afternoon
19th/20th - looks okay
26th/27th - looks okay

All dates do seem to work for me currently, assuming the ftpmaster foo
is done on Saturday (one right after the other?!), otherwise the 13th
won't work out.

If it's not too much of a pain for people, then one after the other
seemed the most sure way of making sure we get both done closer together
- the longer we leave things between 8.2 and 7.9, the more likely the
latter is to be awkward due to version skew.

On the 5th I would be available only about 2 hours later than usual
starting times.

That seems like the favoured date so far, particularly given it's the
only one that really works for Steve.

You'll need a new debian-installer upload to unstable to get an updated
file here.

Dailies are pushed here:

I can confirm that
  http://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/amd64/daily/netboot/mini.iso
boots in qemu to the graphical screen.

Who can make it happen ?

Great (even if I had little doubts).

Usually me. But we don't normally do that outside releases. If you don't
trust stuff on d-i.d.o (which is entirely reasonable), rebuilding the
debian-installer source package locally is easy enough.

The broken mini is mentioned in
  https://wiki.debian.org/InstallFAQ
as one of the ways to get a Sid installation:

Use netboot "mini.iso" image. You will find it on any of the
  Debian mirrors under
  debian/dists/unstable/main/installer-*/current/images/netboot/mini.iso.
During the installation choose "Advanced options" -> "Expert install".
In the step "Choose a mirror of the Debian archive" choose version
  "sid - unstable".

I got a Sid VM meanwhile via upgrade-dist from stable to testing
to unstable. The statement from the FAQ turned out to be true:

This method is the most sure to work of those presented here.

Have a nice day :)

Thanks for all the excellent suggestions folks!

As announced at the Debian-CD BoF lat last week, I've made the
decision to go with *drumroll* ...

  get.debian.org

The DNS is already updated and we'll start moving over to advertising
the new URLs shortly. We'll also need to update the landing pages
etc. to match - help with that also welcome!
