cdimage: questions about weekly builds

2013-03-03 Thread Fabio
Hello,

I found something strange when I downloaded debian CD.

Folder [1] contains only eigth CDs, is it correct?
Why there are CHECKSUM [2] for files which are not in the CDs folder?
Same questions for DVDs [3]

Thanks

Hello.

As far as I know, only the first couple of disc images
are supposed to be on the main mirror. If you need other
(much less popular – most people need only the first CD) images,
download them with jigdo¹².
MD5 and SHA sums are there for completion, so you can verify
your download (though jigdo does it for you (with MD5 sums)).

I personally recommend using jigdo for downloading any Debian CD.
It makes things much faster on not-extremely-fast connections,
especially when you have previous Debian CDs or images to reuse.

Best regards.

Bug#702196: cdimage.debian.org: possible problem with webserver configuration management

2013-03-03 Thread Daniel Reichelt
Just now I noticed the also alternating change of the server signature
(apache 2.2.x vs 2.4.x) - maybe a remnant process from before the upgrade?

Thanks for the report, we're in the process of upgrading OS and apache,
and currently we have frontends on both versions. This is because
cdimage.debian.org is backed by a cluster of machines, for info on the
setup see: http://ftp.acc.umu.se/about/

We'll upgrade/decomission the old ones soon:ish, and then the non-standard
dates should go away.

Feb. 24, 2013 debian-testing-amd64-DVD-1.iso: NO KEYBOARD

2013-03-03 Thread bobh

Hi,

Downloaded the debian-testing-amd64-DVD-1.iso, Feb. 25, 2013, 07:00
file. Checked md1sum and md5sum, and ok.
(from http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekly-builds/amd64/iso-dvd/)

Burnt to DVD. Checked write was OK:
diff debian-testing-amd64-DVD-1.iso /dev/sr0
cmp debian-testing-amd64-DVD-1.iso /dev/sr0
==> no problems

Installing on Dell XPS 15z.

Installed. It went perfectly fine. During the install, a screen told me to
install USB with
iwlwifi-6000g2b-6.ucode and iwlwifi-6000g2b-5.ucode. Found these on the
internet,
continuing and internet started up. Finished install, all looked OK, until the
reboot
==> NO KEYBOARD.
I couldn't give the user login page my password, because not keyboard input was
being
detected.

Thanks for checking this out,

User BBB.
