Re: PowerPC Problem
Thanks Richard Yes, I downloaded both "debian-30r0-powerpc-binary-1.iso" and "debian-30r0-powerpc-binary-1_NONUS.iso" to see if it made any difference. I got the identical problem both times. I've now got a bit further using a minumum install which is available from an imaclinux site in .sit format, and therefore doesnt rely on DiskCopy. Maybe I could do this job with an alternative to DiskCopy. The instructions say that Toast can do it directly. I couldnt figure out how. I can only burn a copy of the .iso file. >From: Richard Atterer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: Steve Langdon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: Re: PowerPC Problem >Date: Thu, 3 Oct 2002 21:28:10 +0200 > >On Thu, Oct 03, 2002 at 05:37:20PM +0200, Steve Langdon wrote: > > OK, so I downloaded the disk-1.iso file from a mirror in binary mode. > >I assume you mean "debian-30r0-powerpc-binary-1.iso" or >"debian-30r0-powerpc-binary-1_NONUS.iso"? > >I'm CCing debian-powerpc for the following questions: > > > It maps Ok using DiskCopy, but I cant get it to boot from a burnt CD > > cos the yaboot config file is called 'yaboot.con' instead of > > 'yaboot.conf'??? > > > > Why should this be. DVD-R images
I would like to use my new Pioneer A04 under debian (I use XP too) For having all packets up to date, I would like to have a DVD-RW bootable and instalable. If you make a ISO image for DVD-R or even better a directory for update DVD-RW for the latest version, it would be useful, not only for me, becouse DVD-R is growing. I think it is possible to put instructions and make it from CD Images, but better if it is done yet. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Re: PowerPC Problem
OK I got slightly further , but now cant find a way of pointing the installer at the linux kernal. It just doesnt want to find it. I've got it on my (mounted) hfs partition directly under the root directory, and under the debian/dists/woody. etc structure recommended by the package. Then I tried burning in onto a CD in different formats putting the files directly on the root, and then also with the required directory structure. still no luck! The installer doesnt even seem to check... there's no clicking and whirring of the HD or CD Drive to indicate that files and directories might be being searched. The installer just comes straight back with 'Not found on this drive' hmmm. There is 'jigdo' an app for downloading & building iso images. Debian does offer dvd isoi images via jigdo. http:www.debian.org/CD is a place to start. -- Greg C.
