Vendor Tux CDs is a sham

2002-08-28 Thread Austin Swinney

Dear Debian CD team,

This email regards your list of vendors at :
http://www.debian.org/CD/vendors/

Vendor: Tux CDs
URL: http://www.tuxcds.com/
URL for Debian Page: http://www.tuxcds.com/
...

This company is a sham. I paid to them $27.00 via paypal and never got
the Debian CDs I was ordering. I notified them twice over a month. I
never got a reply. I paid priority shipping.

Please remove Tux CDs from your list of vendors. If they are not shipping
out their orders, they are probably not giving Debian the money that is
donated to the cause.

Austin Swinney

CD Vendor List/Web Pages

2002-08-28 Thread Brian Fair

I have noticed that some of the links to CD vendors are out of date. I'd
like to offer my help incontacting vendors to see if they're still in the business,
and updating
the web pages toreflect what I find.

Could someone put me in touch with whoever is responsible for this
(or just the general debian-cd web maintainer) so I can find out if my
help iswelcome.

That's great!

I guess I'm sort of responsible for the CD web pages, but the CD
vendors data is actually stored in a database to which I haven't got
write access (Craig Small has).

As far as I'm concerned, your help is very welcome! Just mail requests
for changes to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.

Cheers,

Debian jigdo download failed

2002-08-28 Thread Dave Bechtel

The jigdo file was taken from:
ftp://ftp.fsn.hu/pub/CDROM-Images/debian-unofficial/sarge/jigdo/sarge-i386-1.iso.jigdo

Downloaded: 0 bytes in 0 files
Found 0 of the 15 files required by the template
Copied input files to temporary file `sarge-i386-1.iso.tmp' - repeat
command and supply more files to continue

-
Aaargh - 15 files could not be downloaded. This should not
happen! Depending on the problem, it may help to retry downloading
the missing files.
Also, you could try changing to another Debian or Non-US server,
in case the one you used is out of sync.

However, if all the files downloaded without errors and you
still get this message, it means that the files changed on the
server, so the image cannot be generated.
As a last resort, you could try to complete the CD image download
by fetching the remaining data with rsync.

Press Return to retry downloading the missing files.
Press Ctrl-C to abort. (If you re-run jigdo-lite later, it will
resume from here, the downloaded data is not lost if you press
Ctrl-C now.)
^C

I got this error shortly before Midnight, Central time (IL.)

Contents of jigdo file appended:

I will try burning the ISO anyway, but this is the second time this
error has occurred, with different servers. FYI. (I am using the
latest Jigdo - 0.6.8.

JIGDO files with Security patches applied

2002-08-28 Thread Sanjeev \"Ghane\" Gupta

Hi,

I am creating some CDs for folks in India, where bandwidth is a constraint.
I do have
a fast link here (Singapore), and these days use jigdo to retrieve
woody/i386 CDs and
Fedex them over to the LUG there.

Due to the large number of DSAs, I am worried that folks using these CDs
will need to
immediately go over to the net, and apt-get libc, etc. Is there a .jigdo
file available
that included security updates?

Thanks
