this image failed on a Dell Dimension XPS M200s

however, i suspect hardware problems since after copying the floppy
images onto floppies, reading from the CD was still spotty at best.

we resorted to a net install, which worked flawlessly.

every other system attempted (including a handfull of various laptops)
it worked great.

Beginners questions...

2002-04-22 Thread Alexander Schinner

Hi,

for a special project, I whould like to build my own, modified version of the
Debian boot CD's. The changes I have to make are:

- Using a customized/patched kernel
- remove some questions from the installation procedure (there are fixed
values)
- add some self-build packages

Can you point me to some documents, where I can learn more about this
subject? Where should I start?

Thanx in advance,
Alexander

Last debian-cd updates before release

2002-04-22 Thread Raphael Hertzog

Hi people,

i just committed the last changes that I wanted to make before the
release. But iirc, someone told about a problem with making
bootable sparc cd images ?

Has this been fixed ? Ben, can you check if tools/boot/woody/boot-sparc
is ok and works as expected ?

I'd like to make the upload within 2 days ...

Cheers,

Yeah, I can fix this up tonight. I have a new method I want to implement
which will not only simplify the sparc boot, but make it so you don't
need root to build it anymore.
